*headdesk*

It is after 330 and I've been trying to write this since 1, so I'm going to get right into it.

We are 40% into the month (how has that happened, and at the same time, how is it not June already?). How are my Big Buddy folks doing?
Is there anything I can do to help.

The words of the day have been awesome, go back and take a peek!

You flash challenge is "They will all be back in 39 days!"

Our long challenge is original fic, and you can browse through some of H's prompts! Go forth and make some creations! Or just hit the previous button and be inspired by anything!!!! GO!!! DO!!!

What are you all up to this week? What big creative plans to you have?
[identity profile] haldoor.livejournal.com
And just like that, it's no longer Monday... sorry, folks, but thems the breaks, right? Monday was pretty flat-out with work, and I was on dinner duty after that, and yesterday was no better! The great thing is that I finished one piece of complicated work yesterday - after having it on the go for well over a month (most of my work is 1-2 week jobs, and sometimes only a day)! You can see why I was thrilled to have it done AT LAST. I had begun to think it was never going to end! Anyway, today was supposed to be a nice bit of straight-forward work that I could finish in one day, but there was an unforeseen complication that I needed to get advice on... That has meant there is a bit of a work-around to be completed, which involves another area of my department, and I have to wait for them to do their bit before I can finish my bit, so that's dragging it out to tomorrow at least. Oh well, at least there's a solution that's doable!

And enough of my woes... how is YOUR week going? hopefully "work" (whatever it does or doesn't entail for you) has been productive, and you are getting WORDS in!

I have not done words yet again, though I did manage to make some icons a couple of weekends ago. They are lounging around, unposted, waiting for me to find time to do just that. BUT I will be counting them at least! And no, the count for April is not done yet *sigh*, but I will get to that, and another Original Fic post, soon! That, in case you missed it, is our current long challenge that runs to the end of May! Join us - we're all having fun thinking about original stories, if not actually writing any! ;-)

Big Buddies, you should be at the 22% mark of your monthly goal about now. How is that looking for you? Need any help or encouragement?

The Daily Count challengers need a mention - WOOHOO! You are all going great guns!

Your Flash Challenge for today is: "I could easily change my mind about you." courtesy of Carly Simon (10 points to anyone who can name the song!)

What else? Oh, prompts galore! Check back over the last week for ALL THE THINGS! You know by now what they are, right? All the daily words, the weekly challenges, the weekend challenge! Anything else I missed? Bound to be - so make free with our wonderful comm, and create from any and all of the prompts you like!

And that's me. I'm about to keel over, exhausted, so I think I'd better fall down before I fall down. *waves*

Good morning!

Happy last week of April!  Are you ready for summer yet, or are you lucky enough to live in a place where summer doesn’t start in March?  However the weather is in your area, hopefully it’s been conducive to creativity of all sorts.  One thing I have to say about our weather here, it's really been encouraging the plants to go wild.  Picked my first home grown strawberry on Sunday.  Might have a tomato ready to go soon, too.

Reminders:

1. Flash Challenge!  Your flash challenge prompt is: dusty.  Give me 100 words or a graphic and I’ll reward you with my undying love and admiration.

2. Last week’s challenges:

Word of the day
Weekend Challenge
Thursday Tropes
A to Z
Numbers

And there are more, just check the tags!

3. Big Buddy is at 93%.  Are you on track?  Let us know in the comments if there’s something we can help you with.

4. The Daily Count challenge is still going on.  You can find the list for the rest of the month here.

5. Our current long challenge is original fic!  You can find the welcome post here if you have any questions.  Good time to dip your toes into this world if you’ve ever been tempted.

And now, on to Monday!  I hope it’s a great one for you.  If you’re a hockey fan, I hope your team is doing well and not causing you to call 9-1-1 every time they blow a lead.  I really need to get into better shape before the Knights kill me.  Hah!

Let’s go forth and have a fantastic, productive week!
[identity profile] haldoor.livejournal.com
Here I am again, with another Monday on Tuesday (because I know some of you are still enjoying what's left of your Monday!).

The usual weekday posts have all happened, so either check out the tags or scroll back for the last week's worth of delightful prompts! Don't forget we are also but a few hours away from ending our current long challenge, Rare Pairs, so grab those last few ideas and make the muses work!

On the 16th, we start our new long challenge, which is Original Fic, hosted by none other than Yours Truly! Give me a shove if I haven't got something posted on the subject by Thursday!

Big Buddies, you should be at or close to the 50% mark of your goal by now! How are you doing? Let us know if you need some help - be it encouragement, helping paint you out of a corner, beta-reading, or just some general prompts! We are here for you! ;-)

Your Flash Challenge for today is: Balloons! Do with it as you will! Link anything you create here, if you're so inclined, so we can all see how you made our pile of words grow!

I love this time of year, as we get both Friday and Monday off work here, and then in NZ it's ANZAC Day on the 25th (like the Down-under version of Remembrance or Armistice Day), so that's two short weeks in a row, with only having to work for 3 days next week. Joy! I don't actually do anything exciting at Easter, as we are not particularly religious at my place, but we used to always do an egg-hunt, although as my youngest is 22 now, that kind of went out the window a few years back. If my grandson was in the same city, we'd probably spoil him rotten with too much chocolate, but he's not, and at 18 months old probably shouldn't be getting too much of the stuff anyway! We'll still get some choc eggs for the rest of us here though; why not?

ANZAC Day is a day of quiet reflection, and just hanging out with family; I don't go to any Dawn Parades (or later-in-the-day parades either!) any more, but I do enjoy the quietness of not working, and remembering both my grandads - my father's Dad who fought in WWI and Mum's Dad who was was in the military in WWII.

And with my extra days off, I am intending to finish the rework on my Hubby's favourite chair I that started a while back (the covering is all starting to come off and the seat wore out). The upholsterers wouldn't touch it (too 'cheap' to spend money on fixing apparently - so I figured I'd give it a go myself; it's not quite a full restoration, more like the best adaptation of one I could do myself), so hopefully it'll be useable for a few more years! Aside from that, I plan to pull out an Original Fic WiP to work on for the new long challenge, and maybe squeeze in some icons as well. Here's hoping!

How do you intend to be awesome this Easter week? Tell us in the comments!

And remember, let's be creative out there! ;-)
[identity profile] asphaltcowgrrl.livejournal.com
Happy Monday, how are you doing on this fine day?  I was great until I looked at the weather forecast.  Right back into the high 90’s this week.  As much as I do love the warm weather, it’s a bit early to be courting a hundred degrees.

Reminders:

Flash challenge!  Your prompt is: blood red.  Give me 100 words or a graphic and you’ll earn my undying gratitude.

Last week’s challenges:

Word of the day
Weekend Challenge
Thursday Tropes
A to Z
Numbers

If none of these are teasing the muse, check the tags in the sidebar for more inspiration.

Big Buddy is at 23%!  How are you doing?  Whether you’re off to a slow start or writing like crazy, let us know how you’re doing.

A new month for the Daily Challenge has started again.  You can find the current list of days here.

I’m not sure what our next long challenge is going to be, but keep your eyes peeled as I’m sure information and prompts will be posted soon

Not much else going on here.  Got all my sprouts transplanted into bigger containers, so here’s hoping I didn’t kill any of them in the process.  And one of the plants that my cats decided to snack on seems to be rebounding.  The other, well, I’m going to be writing a eulogy here soon, I think.  Hopefully things are going well in your neck of the woods.  Chime in and let us know what you’ve got going on and how you plan on being awesome this weel.
[identity profile] kaige68.livejournal.com
Here it is, Monday again. *sigh* It feels like Mondays happen several time per week.

Anyway, we are at the end of the month so make sure to update your numbers.

Our Rare Pairs Challenge ends today, so scramble to finish things up and take a minute to tell [livejournal.com profile] skargasm how much you enjoyed all their hard work over the last 6 weeks!!!!

Your flash challenge is "Not Today". Do with it as you will, but go increase your numbers.

Bid Buddy should be at 100%! How did you do?

Daily Count starts new again tomorrow.

My brain is fried and that's all I have for you right now.
What are your plans for the week?

Monday?

[identity profile] asphaltcowgrrl.livejournal.com
Good morning!

How has your week been?  Hoping that the weather is starting to warm up for you (or cool down as your hemisphere might be) and, if not, that it’s maybe less awful.  We keep seeing the mid-70’s here, so I’m thinking we’ll skip spring and move right on into summer, as per usual.  Which might be nice – means I can get my seedlings outside before the cats eat them all.

Reminders:

1. Flash Challenge!  Your flash challenge prompt is: famous last words.  Give me 100 words or a graphic and I’ll reward you with my undying love and admiration.

2. Last week’s challenges:

Word of the day
Weekend Challenge
Thursday Tropes
A to Z
Numbers

And there are more, just check the tags!

3. Big Buddy is at 55%.  Are you on track?  I’m not quite close, but I have been writing, so that’s something, right?

4. The Daily Count challenge is still going on.  You can find the list for the month here.

5. Our current long challenge, running through the end of the month, is rare pairs!  Go check the tag for the rules and information post plus lots of great prompts!

Let us know what your plans for being awesome are.  Here, the last couple of weeks have been a touch chaotic, so I’m hoping for some quiet, lowkey days ahead.
Have a fantastic week!
[identity profile] kaige68.livejournal.com
It has been a week, hasn't it?

I was under the weather Sunday and Monday, and we're trying to plan a trip in June but the destinations keep going off the rails to the point where I think we are going to wing everything. If you know anything about me, you know THAT is crazy for me. And that's all I seem to have right now. Knitting and travel plans. What are you all up to?

Big Buddy should be at 35%. Are you on track? Do you need some assistance?

Your flash challenge is "Last gas for 150 miles." Do with it as you will.

We are in the midst of Rare Pairs, how are you doing with that? Do you need a nudge?

Thumb back through all the prompts that have gone up lately and find some fabulous inspiration!

And now I have to get back to the pile of things that are on my desk! Sorry for the drive by - HAVE A FANTASTIC AND PRODUCTIVE WEEK!
[identity profile] haldoor.livejournal.com
OK, so I am a failure this week, but I will get my act together soon! I promise! The dishwasher has been out of action for a month (one company 3x promised and 3x failed to show to fix it; I went elsewhere), but is (hopefully) fixed now (yes, I'm always skeptical till I actually run these things) - repair man came today and my son supervised (he is 22). Somehow that's my excuse for being slack... gulp, and it's my turn to cook dinner tonight and I have no idea what I'm cooking!!!! I do have some sliced (raw) chicken meat I can use, so just need to throw some things in with it and make some kind of passable meal, I suppose - HAHA! Alrighty, so you get from that how disorganised my week has been.

I throw a flash challenge at you now: Passable! Use it how you will and make words! *throws confetti and sprinkles and glitter in encouragement*

Big Buddies, you should be at about 19% of your monthly goal, so here's hoping!

I have to run for a train now, so please scroll back for all the things! Including our Rare Pairs Challenge, which is the current long challenge! DO IT! You know you want to!

Let's be creative out there! ;-)
[identity profile] kaige68.livejournal.com
Well hello there.
It's Friday as I write this and I'm planning a long uninvolved weekend of staying indoors starting work on knitting a new sweater and hanging out with the puppies. 4 whole days of not answering phones or dealing with plow repairs! It will be heaven.

So let's get this going!

How are your WIPs coming? I have actually finished all my knitting WIPs AND wrote a few thousand words so far which is a few thousand more than last year. I'm feeling pretty good about the things that are within my control at the moment. How about you?

You flash challenge is "Look, you can see the blood spatter."

Big Buddy should be at 54%. Are you on schedule? Do you need a hand?

As an additional "because Kaige is taking a day off" challenge, give me 100 words or a graphic for ANY WotD prompt this month! DO IT! The prompts are excellent!!!

And my brain is fried. I hope you are warm enough, I hope you have wonderfully soft things, and I hope you are unconditionally loved (a little bit of dog drool is just proof)

Happy Monday! Tell me all about your plans for the week!
[identity profile] haldoor.livejournal.com
So here we are, another week gone by already! I am writing this from the South Office of work on a nice Tuesday morning, although rain is threatening for later - I won't complain as we do need it! The last couple of years we've had plenty of rain, but 2025 is starting out a lot drier and you can tell - the grass everywhere is so brown! I just want it to end by Thursday as my family and I are off to the beach for a few days, so we'd like it to be sunny! I hope the weather is as you'd like it where you are.

How are you all doing, anyway? Our Big Buddies should be at around 39% of their goal for the month - I hope you're all there, or close to it! You still have plenty of time to make up the words, anyway. Our current Long Challenge is the WIP Push, so don't be afraid to dust off something old and start adding words (or stitches! ;-)). It'll be around till the end of Feb, so you still have a couple of weeks to participate. I'll hopefully get a new post up soon with a couple more prompts for anyone interested.

Daily Count challenge people are continuing apace! YOU GUYS ROCK! I love seeing how you're all doing, even if I don't comment!

If you need extra prompts, don't forget to scroll back over the last week's entries, or check out the tags for any of the regular items that you love! We have so many good prompts in amongst them all!

Now, your flash challenge for today is: Big & bright! I'm sure you know it's Chinese New Year (CNY) around this time of year, and we are just going into Year of the Snake - I work with a few people from China and others with Chinese ancestry, so we are being treated to a morning tea by them shortly, and I am so looking forward to all the yummy food! I chose today's flash challenge because if you know anything about CNY, there's one thing it will definitely be, and that is big and bright! You don't have to write about CNY unless you want, but I'm sure you can find a few words about the prompt, or maybe just make some pretty graphics! Link or post your fill in a comment so we can all enjoy! No word/graphic minimum or maximum!

if you haven't checked in on the recent posts with the new Long Challenge (LC) and Weekend Challenge (WC) schedules, please do so, especially if you are hosting, so you can be sure the dates I have given you will work! Even if you're not involved, the LC post will be of interest if any of the upcoming challenges look like ones you want to be involved with! You can mark them in your calendar a bit early so you can start to prep beforehand, if you want, or just so you know when they're kicking off to roll up your sleeves and get into them!

And I think that's all I have! Let's be creative out there! ;-)
[identity profile] asphaltcowgrrl.livejournal.com
Good morning!

How’s the year going for you so far?  A little rough for me personally, with a sick cat, but he seems to be on the mend, so that’s a bonus.  Also, it’s going to be nearly 80 degrees here today, which is wild, even for the desert.

Reminders:

1. Flash Challenge!  Your flash challenge prompt is: scarlet.  Give me 100 words or a graphic and I’ll reward you with my undying love and admiration.

2. Last week’s challenges:

Word of the day
Weekend Challenge
Thursday Tropes
A to Z
Numbers

And there are more, just check the tags!

3. Big Buddy is at 7%.  Are you on track?  I managed nearly 450 words yesterday which surprised me.  So, I’m close for the first time this year.

4. The Daily Count challenge is still going on.  You can find the list for the month here.

5. Our current long challenge, running through the end of the month, is WIP push!  So, dust off those unfinished projects and let’s get some thing done!

What are your plans for the week?  Chime in below and let us know how you are going to be awesome this week.  Me, I’m going to be awesome by getting up and letting a particular orange cat have my chair.  Because, if I don’t, he won’t stop bothering me.  Hahaha.
[identity profile] kaige68.livejournal.com
How are you all doing?

I'm hating work, but I do feel like I'm controlling the things that I can. And with everything that is happening, I'm taking that win.

I have finished 2 knitting WIPs, which is very exciting, and I've knitted a month's worth of rows on my 2023 temperature blanket (yes, 2023). I've also written drabbles every week day for the last 2 weeks trying to do a character study and have over 4500 words. This feels awesome!!! Especially since I didn't write 1000 words last year.

I have, however, bought new yarn despite saying I was going to do the WIPs and 3 other projects. And then, of course, I have planned my 2024 blanket and my 2025 mood blanket so there is more projects, but the yarn won't be purchased until I start the last of the now 4 projects (does that make sense?).

Anyway, back to the comm:

Big Buddy should be at 87% today. How are you all doing?

Flash challenge: "IT'S SO FLUFFY! Do with it as you will.

The long challenge is the WIP Push. How are you doing with those? Even if they are other projects. How are your knitting WIPs?

Go forth and take a look at the challenges that have posted in the last week and let something inspire you.

And Reminder - Update your numbers as the month ends soon!
[identity profile] haldoor.livejournal.com
So it's probably still Monday where most of you are, so I'll get this party started by telling you that the title of this post* is a couple of lyric lines from a very well-known (in NZ) song that was a smash hit here a million years ago, called "Outlook for Thursday" by DD Smash. The next line seems about right for Tuesday here: "With a wind that chills you to the bone" even though we're in the midst of summer! I believe we are getting La NiƱa weather pattern this summer, one of the effects of which is "More north-easterly winds blow towards New Zealand, bringing rain to the northeast of the North Island". The rain hasn't hit us too hard yet, but OH BOY, those north-easterly winds are in full gear! Anything loose outside is getting blown across the garden, and it's just not pleasant to be outside in it. *sigh*

I shouldn't complain because I know how tough things are in places like California with the wild fires destroying so much, and the bitter cold and snow in other parts of the USA, but it's hard not to be disappointed in summer here so far! Anyway, I hope everyone you know is safe and well, and that none of our members and friends here have lost anything or anyone to the vagaries of the weather or fires. *hugs*

And now to business! )
[identity profile] asphaltcowgrrl.livejournal.com
How has January been for you?  Let me just say that if this last week is any indication of how my year is going to go?  I wanna skip right on forward to 2026.  Yeesh.  But, hopefully things are better wherever you are.

Reminders:

1. Flash Challenge!  Your flash challenge prompt is: emergency.  Give me 100 words or a graphic and I’ll reward you with my undying love and admiration.

2. Last week’s challenges:

Word of the day
Weekend Challenge
Thursday Tropes
A to Z
Numbers

And there are more, just check the tags!

3. Big Buddy is at 42%.  Are you on track?  Do you have your towel?  Do you think I’m a dork for that last one?

4. The Daily Count challenge is still going on.  You can find the list for the month here.

5. Okay, I’ve already mentioned that it’s been a crazy week for me, so the fact I can’t remember if we currently have a long challenge going or not isn’t a shock.  Feel free to point out if we are!

I think that’s about it.  I need to go check on my kitty and then get back at it.  Last year was a hot mess as far as my writing went.  Need to turn that around today.  Let us know how you’re doing and if you need any help.  We’re here for you!  Now, go forth and be productive in whatever manner it manifests.
[identity profile] kaige68.livejournal.com
Well happy new creative year to you all!

Are you all prepped and ready for 2025 (as if)? Have you made resolutions? Have you tossed them aside? What are your plans for creativity this year?

I have been knitting every day this year, and I'm through September on my book worm for 2024. Which I'm deeming as pretty good as I'm still in August on my 2023 temperature blanket! And I have decided that I am only knitting for me and picked out 6 projects I want to do. 3 of which are started, 3 are not. It is a very different thing having physical WIPs versus digital writing WIPS. But that is my plan. WIPs first! Do you have a plan of attack?

Your flash challenge - "Allergic, but not anaphylaxis allergic" Do with it as you will and interpret how my 2025 started if you'd like.

Big Buddy folk should be hitting 22% today. Where are you with your figures?

The A to Z and Numbers challenges are set up through the end of the month. Are these still things that you want to keep going? To that end are there things you'd like to see more of? Less of? Anything new you think we should try? As ever we are open to suggestions. [livejournal.com profile] simplyn2deep, are you still good with running the daily count challenge and the Words of the Day?

IF you haven't already updated your numbers for 2024 you have until midnight PST today to get them all accounted for! Go! Do!

And that's all I have right now. Imma go take more benadryl, and try to move forward! WOOHOO 2025!
[identity profile] kaige68.livejournal.com
Hello there! Did you all make it through Thanksgiving, Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, Santa Parade Sunday, Cyber Monday, Giving Tuesday? It all feels like it's been a trek since last week, and I only participated on one of those.

Your flash challenge is "ONLY 20?!?"

Big Buddy should be at 16% today. How are you doing?

We have no long challenge this month, but Advent is coming up in a few days, and Swap of Joy is going on. Are you all prepped for that?

I'm planning on hitting up the 100 in 100 again at the end of the month, so if you are tight for your year end figures you will have a LOT of prompts!

As always, hit that back button to go through some words of the day and weekend challenges to see if anything inspires you.

And then, what are your plans for creativity for the rest of the year? Did your NaNoWriMo piece get finished? Are you prepped with a plan for next year? What would you like to see here in 2025? What are the big goals?

I am grateful for everyone here at the comm, and I hope your holiday season is lovely.
