Hey everyone! We're thinking about getting organised for 2020, and would like your thoughts on what content we should have here at the comm. I've put together a poll, so if you can fill it out by midnight Friday 27th Dec PST, that would help us a lot. And if you have any comments to make or questions to ask about anything at the comm, please do so here! We want your input!

[Poll #2097737]

K and I would also like to thank all of you who have been involved with the comm this year; we really appreciate you hanging out with us and making this such a great place to be. We wish you all the best over the festive season too! ;-)

PS: I've emailed everyone who is a member of the comm to remind you to fill out the poll, but I missed copying the link here, and have had issues trying to send another group email, so apologies for that.

To clarify the second poll question, I am ashamed to say I haven't contributed anything at all, but I do love doing three-sentence ficathon and stuff, so I really want to contribute more, not that I want to give off a feeling of being a lurker forever.

The fics I have written never come close to a million words but I am going to try my hardest best to get something written here in 2020.

I watched the comm for two or three months before I finally joined, so I get where you're coming from there.

And don't worry about how long your fics are - the numbers all get added up together at the end to show how much we can do as a group. Because trust me, I'm lucky to get more than 2k words in a fic.

Anyway... welcome! I hope you join in more in the 2020. If you ever have questions, someone is always happy to help out.

Oh! And soon we'll be starting a 100-in-100 challenge to help boost word count before the end of the year. Those would be a great way to get involved as they're low stress and a lot of fun.

*waves*

I may be a bit sparse during Jan/Feb/Mar (big move) - but volunteering to help out with challenges/events later in the year (always up for helping with bingo, nano or whatever).

I'm mostly a lurker, but I'm hoping to up my writing again this coming year, so I support all the writing challenges you want to post!

One of my favorite challenges are the Numbers challenge because it's all so beautifully random :)

I ran August Rush this year and it was fun! I'm happy to do it again and help out where needed.

Everyone here does a great job and I would hate to see things change too much. That said it takes a lot to keep everything going at the pace that it's going now. Monthly challenges could be scaled back to be every other month (or possibly alternate types of challenges- a fic challenge in January that runs Jan-Feb, a graphic challenge in February that runs Feb-Mar).

I don't remember Twist- which challenge is that?! It sounds intriguing.

I really liked the three sentence fic challenge - anything that would encourage quick bouts of writing I'd be in favor of. Maybe it would jump start whatever part of my brain it is that has settled in for a nap.

My suggestion is perhaps combine inktober with Fictober, so you've got options for both artists and writers. :)

But, I have to say since my writing muse came back (thank you Voyager!) Having the Daily Count challenge and the Big Buddy challenges have kept me focused and gave me goals to look forward to. Thanks to those, I've written over 140K this year!! I'm looking forward to a 2020 that is just as, if not more so, productive!

I've been dealing with a lot of stressful stuff that culminated with me quitting my job a week ago, so I haven't been around much. And while I'm hopeful that I'll get back on track in January, I can't be sure with so much up in the air. Still, I love this place and if things do turn around for me I'll be glad to help out more in the future.

OH! And one thing that I love that wasn't mentioned in the poll is the Word Wars.

Also, instead of repeating some of the year-long challenges that we've already had (like A to Z) maybe there could be some other kind of prompt challenge. Like photo prompts? Song titles?

I haven't been around much this year, but am definitely planning on writing more. I love this comm, and when my mental health allows it, I love how it helps me get the words out. ♥

I'm loving the idea of two month long monthly challenges. maybe 2 weeks to set up and take in ideas, 4 weeks of the challenge, and two weeks of clean up/panic finishing.
Just the way my math brain works.
