Yesterday (Monday) was Labour Day in NZ, so I had a glorious long weekend - the first public holiday since June, which in these parts symbolises spring finally starting to turn towards summer! I am so ready for it! And of course, Christmas is now less than two months away, which means there's things to do to be ready for a relaxing Christmas Day at our place! This year we're aiming to tidy up the patio and get a gazebo-cover type thing we can set up over the picnic table, as it inevitably rains on the big day, and if not, it'll be sunny out so we may need shade there, anyhow. So there's a bit to do before December!

Apart from all that, today being Tuesday already is a huge bonus! I'm already looking forward to Friday! What I do need to do is set up a post about the Advent Challenge, which will be upcoming. I know we have Swap of Joy getting under way, but this is separate and is not for a particular recipient, and posting occurs in the 24 days heading up to Christmas, whether or not you celebrate! OK, I will make that my mission for later today!

How are our Big Buddies doing? You should be at about 93% of your monthly goal by now. How is it looking?

There is plenty of inspiration in our usual posts - so scroll on back, or look out individual tags to see what rocks your boat! Our current long challenge is Bingo, which is always a ton of fun! And the cards look awesome! I may need to grab hold of a couple myself!

Your flash challenge this week is 'Don't sweat it!'. Drop and give me 100 or an icon! Post it in a comment or link it to this post, so we can all check it out and pat you on the back!

And October is almost over, so don't forget to update your numbers this week, or by the end of the weekend, so I can tell you all the good news on the count front! We are getting close to the wire now, and I would love us to beat last year's 4.2 MILL! Also, this means many of our writers here will be gearing up for NaNoWriMo! Good luck to all of you!

Stop by in a comment here and let me know how you're doing, no matter which of our challenges you are doing (or not!); I'd love to chat!

And let's be creative out there! ;-)

Is anyone planning on Camp NaNo for this July? I completely blew off the earlier one this year but would like to give the one in July a go.

Hey guys, it’s Monday again!  I know we kinda flopped the last couple weeks and I apologize for that.  So, catch up time!  How are you holding up?  Is November treating you well?

5. November’s challenge is NaNoWriMo.  If you’re participating, agdhani has a ton of wonderful resources for you.  Just check the tag here and see what’s on offer.

We’re so close to the end of the year now, that it’s frightening.  Whether you’re close to hitting your goals or not, know that the effort is what counts.  We’ve made it this far and some days, that’s quite a feat!  Here’s to a great week!

If anyone is participating...and has created their project for the month...and would like to be part of a ! Mill cabin, let me know and we'll create one.

I'm going to be editing another project, so come on in and join me :)

I've got the cabin set up.

Anyone who wants to join in, leave me your NaNo name and I'll send the invites out.
I'll have a delayed start to NaNo...but its okay; I'll manage ;)

If you want to join, apparently you have to have created your project first...so once you do that, let me know and I'll get you added :)

NaNoWriMo.org hosted a Q&A with 2 editors from one of their sponsors, Swoon Reads. I found it very informative even though YA is not my genre. It was interesting to hear what editors look for, the revising process and how they find new authors. Not just for NaNo folks :-)

Hey guys, for all of you involved in [livejournal.com profile] mini_wrimo, there is a collection ready over at AO3 for anything you want to share with the comm while you're in the writing process in November, or afterwards at any stage!

Here is the link: 1MW AO3 Mini-Wrimo Collection

Good luck to everyone participating in either the main NaNoWriMo or with the Mini-Wrimo!

Whoever makes the most words wins! is a star, but we love ALL the words and celebrate and encourage all of you all the way! WOOT!

It's the 31st here, so I'm starting my own goal of 200 WPD TOMORROW! Wish me luck! I'm going to post reminders as often as I can, and you're all welcome to let me know how you're doing, and/or ask for and offer encouragement to others in those posts.

Don't know what NaNoWriMo is?

National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) is a fun, seat-of-your-pants approach to creative writing. On November 1, participants begin working towards the goal of writing a 50,000-word novel by 11:59 PM on November 30.

Website here!

Who here is participating this year? Are you already planning or do you prefer to start with nothing on November 1?

As for me, this time around I'm writing a Batman fanfiction (of the "what if?" variety) and although I'm still in the early stages of planning I'd like to have a full outline by the end of the month, because I'm not good at pantsing at all (I tried and failed spectacularly a couple of times already with that approach).

(For the mods: I have no idea how to tag this post, sorry.)
