Monday Madness: Original Fic

Hi all you original writers out there! I know I missed an entry for July when my calendar wasn't sending me reminders, so I can only apologise for that. I am back on track now and seem to be getting the reminders again *crosses fingers*.



So, today, who wants to play a little writing exercise game? I know we did a challenge last time around, and that went very well for some of us... (yeah, not me, unfortunately).

How about a drabble or comment fic in one of your own universes? Give me a shout if you want to play and I'll find a random prompt for you (if you need it). If you join in, write your words and link or post them here, so we can all read them. If you'd rather just add to something you're writing in that 'verse, go for it - sharing an excerpt would be nice, but not required if you'd rather not share.

Let's say... any time this week. Track this post if you're joining in, then you can see what others come up with before next Sunday!



The stories I have that I'd be willing to work on are: (gay) Victorian vampire story, Future Earth after the apocalypse (more men than women), NZ future story after a flu decimates the population (gay protagonist) (yeah, there's a kind of theme going on here, isn't there?), English public schoolboys with a secret (yes, there's sexual confusion here), or NZ coming of age story (featuring some abuse, so a little dark in places).

Anyone can ask for me to add to or write something short within any of these universes; even if you're not writing yourself. Just give me a random 1-2 word prompt and choose one of the above stories, and I'll see how many I can play with over this week. I'll extend the time if a lot of you prompt me and I feel the need!

Future Earth after the apocalypse (more men than women) intrigues me!

Not sure how to put it in a few words, so I hope a scenario is okay: what's it like for women to go out in public? Do they need escorts or have a curfew? It's not really fic, but it's still writing!

And Hit me! The more prompts the merrier (because it seems to be the only way I get things written)! PS: I'll take prompts from anybody who wants to give them <3

But, first.. will you accept a fill with the tense changed slightly? Because I can't figure out how to make the main character reply with that, himself, but as a group (aka "we would") it makes sense.

Your brain is incredible! Kaige and I wrote about crayons some years back, and this is something along similar lines (more smutty though!), so I love it! I'm going to have to go back and look at the rest of it too! Awesome work! ;-)

i am working on an original ficlet inspired by the "Ancient Aliens" makeup challenge on SyFy's Face Off (SFX makeup reality competition).

the challenge was that the artists were told to pick an ancient wonder/temple and create an alien that might have had a hand in its creation. the winning artist had a really cool little backstory she gave her character so I'm trying to write a short story around it.

working title is "Her Vengeance".

OMG, I love all these projects you're working on! I have an affection for vampires and coming of age stories, both. Good luck on all of them.

I just finished reading a Gothic gay romance written back in the '80's that I really enjoyed. Definitely different. Your Victorian vampire story brought that to mind.

As for me, I'd love a prompt! What I've got stagnating are a m/f vampire story that I'd really love to finish one of these years. Another m/f that's a straight contemporary romance. I also have my boys, Ethan and Travis, who have nothing to do (other than plan a wedding but yanno), so they're up for anything.

I love that prompt. And it would actually work in all of them plus my OTP as far as the FF goes. Heh.

This is what I managed. Not sure if I can call it an excerpt or possibly a deleted scene, but it really makes me want to get back into this story ASAP.
