Wanted to share this article I found on Tumblr today. It makes a great argument for fan fiction being taken seriously - and also captures a bit the joys of writing and reading it!

Great article, thanks for sharing, I really enjoyed reading it. And it's nice to see more positive views about Fanfic and the fandom world in general. With social media at such a level now, the fans are that much more in-touch and in many ways more involved with their shows more than ever before. I think Sherlock stepping up to the plate and recognising the part of fandom that is often put down (fanfic) and paying homage to it. The fans recognise that kind of commitment to them and it pays off.

Glad you enjoyed it! I do think there's more of a back and forth between franchises and fans now, especially TV shows that are on every week. Sometimes it's *too* absorbing - I'm limiting my Tumblr time because it's so easy to get sucked into meta articles and endless posts with pretty pictures. Ah, the search for balance... it never ends.
