So, for today's Fandom Squee, we're doing a two-for-one since they go together so well:

BUFFY & ANGEL

On my list of all-time favorite TV shows, Buffy is my #1. It very well might always be. Which is funny, because I had seen the so bad it's actually funny movie, so when I heard they were making it a TV show, I totally scoffed and was like 'Yeah, not watching that.' Except my roommate watched it. And my mom and my sister watched it. So I sat down partway through season 1 and watched an ep ... and that was all it took.

It was such a good show. Funny and serious and sad and scary and action-packed and everything. And 'Hush' and 'Once More, With Feeling' are probably two of my very favorite hours of TV ever best musical episode ever. and you can fight me on that. So, so, so, so, so good.

Angel I never loved quite as much as I loved Buffy, but it's part of Buffy, so it also gets a huge piece of my heart. I loved Cordy more on Angel than I did on Buffy, and I loved, loved, loved Fred.

These shows. I just can't say enough. This post is making me want to do a re-watch. Heh.

So now your turn! What do you love about Buffy, Angel or any other Joss Whedon show?

Spike was my hands down favorite.
And I loved Faith...and Lindsey McDonald...the world's introduction (more or less) to the loveliness that is Christian Kane.

It's so funny you bring up that horrid but funny movie because that alone is the reason I never could get into Buffy. It's amusing though because my husband LOVED it and, due to reruns early in the morning, so do my kids.

Goofy side note: in the early days of Bones, one of my kids saw David Boreanaz and said, "But why is Angel out in the sunlight?" I just couldn't.

But I do love my vampires and really was into shows like Ultraviolet, Blood Ties, Moonlight, and Forever Knight. :D

Basically, I have nothing worthwhile to contribute to this post. :D

#1 I will always prefer the movie. But I'm weird like that. :)
#2 Agreed that Cordy was better on Angel, but it was ALL ABOUT FRED.
#3 I loved what little focus there was on Dawn and Xander and Dawn and Spike. I needed more of them.
#4 I Will Remember You is the one episode I will always love.
#5 I was on the Willow/Giles train. Also, Wes/Fred broke my heart and crushed it into dust.
#6 Also: DOYLE. ♥

I loved Buffy until the final two seasons. Although there were some good episodes in 6 (namely Once More With Feeling and Two to Go/Grave) it just didn't have the same appeal for me as the first five seasons.

Angel - I was happy enough with until they did the whole Connor/Cordelia/Angel thing - followed by A.I. taking over the LA office of Wolfram and Heart.

Giles was my favorite character and maybe his reducing his time for seasons 6 and 7 were why the later seasons didnt' grab me so much, LOL. I own both series on DVD though - so it's not like I hated any of the seasons - just preferred the earlier ones to later.

I adored both Buffy and Angel and I liked how the shows intermingles the supernatural with humor and action adventure and the friendships were epic, especially the lovely Buffy/Willow friendship and the Cordelia/Wesley/Gunn friendships.

I also thought that Anya brought a lot to the show especially when she went from vengeance demon to a good guy and I actually thought both Cordy and Anya were way too good for Xander.

I always wanted Fred and Wesley to happen and I hated when Fred was killed and Ilyria took her place and then Wesley was killed.

I didn't like the Tara/Willow romance because Tara seemed like such a boring drip and I never liked any of Buffy's romances. For me, Angel belonged with Darla and Spike belonged with Dru.

This show had a serious impact on me growing up, especially Faith and Spike. I stopped watching both shows while they were on the air, but the episode where Willow almost (but doesn't) destroy the world and especially the reason why she didn't do it in the end suckered me back into the show and my original love of the characters. Drew and I rewatched the entire series of BtVS from start to end, and this time, I ended up doing something I'd never thought I would and falling in love with Spuffy. I still can't get through Angel all the way, but I'll always love the entire mainstream casts of BtVS and Angel, Cordy, Lorne, and Doyle from AtS. They're almost as big a part of fandom for me as the X-Men. BtVS will forever remain one of my all time favorite shows, Spike one of my favorite guys, and Cordy and Faith will always be on my top lists, too. Though the rewatch did finally get me into loving all the BtVS characters. <3
