Fandom Squee Day 7: MCU

So hey guys, sorry for the delay in this. I have had a little bit of a hectic day and tecnology hates me!
But onto more important things: fandoms
Today it is:

MCU
THE ALMIGHTY MARVEL CINEMATIC UNIVERSE

So anything from Iron Man to Guardians! Be aware this does not include the Netflix shows or TV Shows, just the films

So I am a MARVEL comic book fan, always have been and I have been watching the MCU since I have been old enough too. Favourite film ... Guardians of the Galaxy (cosplayed as Starlord a couple of years ago)

Favourite Character ... Clint Barton (who doesn't love a bit of Hawkeye) (you may also notice if you hve been following the Fandom Squees, that I have a bit of a thing for guys with bows and arrows)

Most Excited for ... Guardians of the Galaxy 2 and Captain Marvel

TNT was showing both Thor movies this weekend so I watched, does that count?

Growing up, my mother was a reading snob - it had to be a book or it didn't count, so I wasn't allowed comics. :/ I feel horribly lost trying to get into comics as an adult. That said, I do love my manga.

ANYWAY... I don't know anything about the comics, but I have loved these movies (the ones I've seen anyway).

we didn't have access to comics...to my knowledge there was nowhere in the city nearest where I grew up that sold them...and since I didn't drive, there was no travelling hours away to look...so I was oblivious to the entire genre.

If it wasn't on Saturday morning cartoons on the 1 tv channel we did get, I was oblivious to it.

EXACTLY. And that's probably why I'm so partial to Batman, Superman, and Spiderman - they all had Saturday morning cartoons!

I was big into Batman in the cartoon days. I liked that he had all the toys rather than 'superpowers'. I made him 'just another guy' albeit a RICH guy, lol.

Absolutely, I loved that about him, too. Anyone can win with lasers shooting from their eyes, but it takes skill to throw that batarang. :D

Yeah I lived in a decently sized city and had an older brother. Comics were around a lot ;)

Clint! I do love me some Hawkeye. And Thor...because Chris Hemsworth is totally to die for!

And I have to admit...I love the magic aspect of Dr. Strange...so he's gonna move up the ranks fast.

And lastly...since he DID start out in the MCU before moving to TV, I must admit I have a HUGE thing for Phil Coulson. Like Clint, he's not a 'superhero' with magic powers or whatever, but he is totally a badass!

(and baby Groot is totally gonna steal the show in the Guardians...)

I really liked Doctor Strange. I wasn't sure how Marvel Studios were going to handle the whole magic thing and the darker tone of the occult but they did it really well :)

And now the Sorcerer Supreme can turn up every time something unexplainable happens (handwavey magic!) yeah for plot devices.

Does Iron Man count? I've never been much of a comics person but I enjoyed the Iron Man movies. Loved the way RDJr played him :)

OMG HAWKEYE!!!!

Especially the Fraction series, but really ANY Hawkeye works. The snark and ... ALL THE SNARK! That 90 seconds in Thor with the sexiest thumb in the world!!! Guh!

So very looking forward to the next Guardians, and the movies have brought me an appreciation for Winter Soldier I never possessed before. ;)

He came to my local comic con which was a real big deal because he is the biggest name we have ever had in the past 6 years I have been going. I queued for hours to meet him! So worth it!

My knowledge of Marvel began with knowing which X-Man was Cyclops (because that was the only action figure my brother had) and knowing Hulk because of Bill Bixby.

I was late to the MCU, in that I didn't see Iron Man or Thor in the theater, but I do remember being amused as hell at the Sherman Brothers alt-Worlds Fair theme during IM2, because Disney employee. :D

What cemented me, though, was Captain America. SWEET $&^@)$, that movie was everything I was missing in life. until Guardians, but Cap will always be my first.

AND IT WASN'T ABOUT NEAL, OKAY? Much.. *shifty eyes*

I adore the universe Marvel has created (even if we are to ignore Bana!Hulk, which I liked, but whatever) and ALL HAIL PEGGY CARTER.

I haven't watched any of the Netfilx series, and aside from the first season of SHIELD, I haven't seen it either, save recap posts.


....Also, I am NOT a fan of all the hate for Natasha's backstory in AoU. Clearly I was watching a different movie, because I totally read that whole conversation a completely different way.

I think The First Avenger is still up there with my favourite Marvel movies. It was just everything and was such a good introduction to Captain America and everything he stands for!
*raises eyebrow* of course it wasn't

I liked Bana!Hulk, but in my eyes it wasn't the same level as later Marvel films.

I'm generally not a fan of Natasha in AoU (side rant) but I quite liked the backstory. It's what I thought it should be ... I agree I can't see where it is all coming from

:p I really was hoping they would go comic book plots with the Commandos and have him there, bossing Nick around, when Steve defrosted. :D

And, agreed - it's DEFINITELY under-par.. but Marvel just keeps setting the bar higer. :D Ant-Man was WAAAAAAAY better than it should have been, for one. :D

It was actually the plot arc in AoU that made me like her. Well, and some Winter Soldier spillover.. but, generally, it humanized her. Which is what made me like her. :) Mostly, I just want more Steve&Natasha buddy-cop plotlines, because they're wonderful together. ♥

ALSO, I NEED SOMEONE TO TELL TONY AND THOR THAT PHIL IS ALIVE AND WELL. JUST TELL THEM. THAT'S ALL. more would be better, but just acknowledge MCTV already MCU. *rolls eyes*

I did Wanda from AoU too! I only go to one con a year and go as a different person a year. It's gonna be Captain Marvel this year :)
