Here I am again, with another Monday on Tuesday (because I know some of you are still enjoying what's left of your Monday!).
The usual weekday posts have all happened, so either check out the tags or scroll back for the last week's worth of delightful prompts! Don't forget we are also but a few hours away from ending our current long challenge, Rare Pairs, so grab those last few ideas and make the muses work!
On the 16th, we start our new long challenge, which is Original Fic, hosted by none other than Yours Truly! Give me a shove if I haven't got something posted on the subject by Thursday!
Big Buddies, you should be at or close to the 50% mark of your goal by now! How are you doing? Let us know if you need some help - be it encouragement, helping paint you out of a corner, beta-reading, or just some general prompts! We are here for you! ;-)
Your Flash Challenge for today is: Balloons! Do with it as you will! Link anything you create here, if you're so inclined, so we can all see how you made our pile of words grow!
I love this time of year, as we get both Friday and Monday off work here, and then in NZ it's ANZAC Day on the 25th (like the Down-under version of Remembrance or Armistice Day), so that's two short weeks in a row, with only having to work for 3 days next week. Joy! I don't actually do anything exciting at Easter, as we are not particularly religious at my place, but we used to always do an egg-hunt, although as my youngest is 22 now, that kind of went out the window a few years back. If my grandson was in the same city, we'd probably spoil him rotten with too much chocolate, but he's not, and at 18 months old probably shouldn't be getting too much of the stuff anyway! We'll still get some choc eggs for the rest of us here though; why not?
ANZAC Day is a day of quiet reflection, and just hanging out with family; I don't go to any Dawn Parades (or later-in-the-day parades either!) any more, but I do enjoy the quietness of not working, and remembering both my grandads - my father's Dad who fought in WWI and Mum's Dad who was was in the military in WWII.
And with my extra days off, I am intending to finish the rework on my Hubby's favourite chair I that started a while back (the covering is all starting to come off and the seat wore out). The upholsterers wouldn't touch it (too 'cheap' to spend money on fixing apparently - so I figured I'd give it a go myself; it's not quite a full restoration, more like the best adaptation of one I could do myself), so hopefully it'll be useable for a few more years! Aside from that, I plan to pull out an Original Fic WiP to work on for the new long challenge, and maybe squeeze in some icons as well. Here's hoping!
How do you intend to be awesome this Easter week? Tell us in the comments!
And remember, let's be creative out there! ;-)

Date: 2025-04-15 03:53 am (UTC)I'm also outside as much as possible, now that it's a touch warmer. I've been blowing right through some spring cleanup and landscaping tasks. And I'm topping off garden bins and planting lettuce, spinach, scallions and some bok choy.
And I'm knitting- but just something to occupy my hands while watching TV.
Now that the class is about to wrap up, and the yard is in much better shape, I should have much more time for writing. And for the weekend challenge. And getting ready for the mid-June through July challenge! Woot!
Oh, and I have been walking at least 4 miles a day, and today hit 7.8!
I guess that's enough!

Date: 2025-04-15 09:01 pm (UTC)Oh nice, love that you have two short weeks in a row! Those kinds of holidays are nice for reflection and gratitude.
And we're not big on Easter here, either, but it's still fun. I bought the older child a bottle of wine and two glasses handmade from recycled glass for her basket this year. The younger child I still need to find some things for. Oops. LOL
Love that you're willing to tackle the chair yourself! Hope that it comes out great.
Not a whole lot planned for this week. Just work and watching the plants. I have fat tomatoes and some strawberries and I am perched waiting for them to ripen. LOL
I probably ought to get back to work now. :D

Date: 2025-04-16 04:03 am (UTC)Once that book is out the door, it'll be on to the first rewrite of last year's NaNo project (very said to say the last NaNo project...:( ) But I'll still be turning to plotting in sept/october and then writing in November. My own personal NaNo. It has been my pattern for so many years now I don't want to break it and get out of the habit.
