“There’s nothing I can…” began Ninon, her hands now bloody as she felt around the point of impact, where the scalp was torn open and the fractured bone beneath shifted and sank beneath her touch. “Who is she?” Korma demanded, barking her heightened emotions at the only person in the room she recognized. “A healer-mage,” Aman replied, swallowing his grief, sinking down to his knees, holding Geary’s hand, his wrist, hoping for a pulse he did not find. If Ninon could not save him, there was no hope that anyone else could. All of this death. All over a cache of weapons he was even more relieved to have destroyed now. It might have been better, however, if he had died in the garrison collapse. He would have needed to see none of this. “Father, I have come to…” A gasping squeal erupted in the open doorway. Aman looked back. The squeal ended in a squeak and Oasis sank to the floor.
“They’re not just targeting werewolves, Derek,” Stiles said, tapping the proposed legislation with his pen. “This covers every species—kitsune, banshees, hellhounds. It’s a supernatural witch hunt.”
Derek’s jaw tightened as he skimmed the document again. “They’re lumping us all together like we’re threats.”
“Exactly,” Stiles said, leaning closer. “Which means we need to get every species at the table. Show them we’re not the enemy.”
Derek huffed. “You think they’ll listen?”
“They will,” Stiles said confidently. “Because we’ll make them listen. Besides, who can resist *this* face?”

Derek smirked despite himself. “They might outlaw sarcasm next, you know.”
“Bring it on,” Stiles quipped.
