Today's prompts: A phrase: It's better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all Words: fireplace, lights A song title: You and You Alone Color: Off White
“Ooh,” Renee said, as she followed Allison and the others into the cabin, “there's a fireplace. Can we make use of it?”
Allison clapped a hand on her shoulder. “You'd better believe it. There's also a hot tub outside if we decide to get crazy.” It crept up on her then, the words she didn't say, that this was her last vacation with the team. When the year started, it was different- they were different, but after all they'd been through, starting with Seth and then ending with Neil's crazy adventure, they'd bonded as a team, something they hadn't been able to do during the whole time she'd been a member of the Foxes.
Sure, she, Dan, and Renee were tight and always had been. As the only women on the team, they had to stick up for one another. Her relationship with Seth had put some distance between them during their on-times, but the girls had been there for her when she needed them. She loved them like sisters.
“Who's ready for a drink?” Aaron called from the kitchen, where he and Kevin were unpacking all of the bottles of booze they'd brought and creating a makeshift bar.
A chorus of “Me!” rang out throughout the room and Allison had to laugh. This might be the last vacation they had together as a group, but they were going to go out with a bang.

Steve smiled, accepting a mug. “Thanks, Danno. This is perfect.”
They sat in comfortable silence, watching the flames dance. Danny leaned closer, their shoulders touching.
“Never thought I’d find peace like this,” Steve murmured.
Danny chuckled. “Well, you’ve got me to thank for that.”
Steve turned, eyes reflecting the firelight. “Yeah, I do. And I’m grateful every day.”
