There were duties in Alberni that needed tending. Kavan had family in Elyria and Enesfel. And with the shadow of war looming, there undoubtedly duties the duke needed to address. He had grown better at accepting that there were times when life would keep them from one another’s company but it did not prevent Rhyrdan from preferring to keep track of where the bard was going to be at all times or spending time with him whenever possible.
He could not protect him as he had sworn to do if Kavan did not allow him to do so.
“I’ve been out with Agdhallan and Dhori and am now on my way to the library for some research; you can both join me there if you wish.”
Though Rhyrdan frowned, a man of action rather than one of sedentary study, he decided that time spent with books in Kavan’s company today was preferable to spending the next several hours alone. It might also present him with a clue as to where Kavan had been before returning to the keep. “I will find him and bring him to you. The king will be pleased you’re back as well.”
“And Artur no doubt.”
“Of course,” Rhyrdan chuckled. He might worry, but he worried less than Artur ever had when he could not find Kavan where he expected him to be.
