By the time the two men, plus Nikoa, joined him, Kavan had collected a small mountain of books onto one of the window desks and set out ink and sheets of parchment for making note of any clue he might uncover. Zerio, carrying a meal tray with enough food to feed each of them, set it down on the other desk and then pulled that chair over so that he could prop his feet up on the corner of the desk. Rhyrdan, taking the initiative, picked up one of the books from Kavan’s stack and sat across from him. Nikoa chose food instead and sat on the internal side of Zerio’s desk.
“So, what are we looking for?” asked Zerio as he also took a book but turned first to eating.
