Happy 2022, everyone!

If you're looking for a fun way to get more words this year, I have something for you. therealljidol is starting up a new mini season soon, and signups are open now!

This will be my fifth time participating, and it's so much fun. You basically get a prompt and then somewhere between 3-7 days to write anything you want that's inspired by the prompt. People write fiction, non-fiction, poetry. A couple people in past years even wrote and recorded songs. And then after everyone writes, all the entries go up for voting. Usually a couple people are eliminated each week and then everyone else does it all over again.

The best part, though, is that everyone is usually super supportive and really friendly. I've made a ton of friends through it, and you get a lot of nice comments on your writing. There obviously is a competition side of it, but in general, it's pretty low-pressure and a lot of people are in it just for the writing and not actually for the winning.

I was suuuuuper nervous the first time I signed up, but it's been a really amazing experience every time, and most of all, if you're like me and need a nice little deadline to help inspire words, it's really, really great for that!

I saw you signed up! Yay! I've had a lot of fun in past seasons, so I hope you do too. And once it starts, if you ever want to brainstorm ideas for the topics or anything like that, let me know. I'm so excited you're joining in!
