In time, you'll learn to deal with it was a refrain she'd heard often. So much death had surrounded her: friends, various classmates, her best friend's mom. It was a lot to deal with.

Eventually, she'd had enough. Losing Buffy was a bridge too far for her. The 'bot was no replacement.

If only there was a spell...

If only she was powerful enough to cast it...

If only her friends were on board with it...

It would take a lot, but Willow was ready.
