So, going out as I started, with a Labyrinth quote. These are my last two daily prompts (all bundled together with the other two sets of prompts I've also posted tonight *facepalm*). Hope I've managed to give all of you some ideas either for current fics or maybe for the future. Remember, these are all just suggestions, take them and make the ideas yours :D
Day 27
Tropes. We know them, we love them, so why not use them! Meet cute or meet hate? Coffee shop or flower shop? Tattoo shop or book shop? The cute cop that pulled you over for speeding or the fireman that you're on a first name basis with now because your new roommate has burnt their popcorn for the fifth time that month? Mistaken identities on a blind date? Dogs get you tangled together in the park? Your ex just walked in and you need a stranger to make you look like you're not alone? The hot new college professor or teacher of your kid is the person you just had the best sex of your life with the night before? You just sexted your boss?
Honestly, if you want a list of 31 tropes to play with (and possibly some pairings to try with them), I just did a rare pair trope a day challenge this past December so feel free to check out that full list of tropes and the pairings I used with them here.
Day 28
So, my last quote, as mentioned, is from Labyrinth. And honestly, there's so many good ones you could use, I'm going to toss a couple in here (slightly modified).
"Don't go that way, never go that way! ... If she'd kept going that way, she'd have gone straight to that castle." I learned several lessons from Labyrinth, one being, always ask WHY. Does someone give your character/s some helpful information that turns out to be not so helpful because they didn't think to ask for clarification? This could be funny or serious depending on where they're trying to go and the motives of the person giving the directions. Are your characters the ones giving the directions?
"That's not fair!" "No, it's not. But that's just the way it is, isn't it?" Did someone win a contest because the judges liked them better for some non-related reason (better personality, prettier, etc)? Did someone get the job or position even though your character was more qualified? Life isn't fair, but it's how we handle the results that make a difference. (Like I said, several lessons lol) Does character B try to cheer them up? Or is character B the one getting the prize or are the two of them stuck working together? Is character A getting kicked out of their home by their ex with no warning?
