“How's it going, G-man?”

Buffy had apparently passed the phone to Xander. Rather than going over the details of his trip back to London and the subsequent days of unpacking that he'd just briefed Buffy on, he decided to take a different tactic. “A bit of mal du pays,” he admitted.

“Have you seen a doctor for that?” Xander asked.

“I'm sorry... what?”

“The whatever you call it- French disease that you got.”

There was some excited chatter in the background. Giles pinched the bridge of his nose. “It's not a disease.”

“Oh, okay. What is it?” Trust Xander to get straight to the point.

“Homesickness.”

There was a long pause, so long in fact that Giles had to check that someone was still on the other end. “Xander?”

“But you're in London.”

“Yes.”

“So how could you be...? Aw, Giles, you miss us. Guys, Giles misses us.”

“Less and less by the moment,” Giles said.

“Don't worry. We'll see you at the wedding in a few months, right?”

“Ah yes, the wedding. How could I forget?”

“I'll pass you along to Anya. She'll tell you all the details.”

“Wait, no. Xander?”

“Yeah.”

“I have to go. I'll talk to you all later.” There was so much more he wanted to say to the young man on the other end of the line, talk of home and what it truly meant to him, but now was not the time.
