A. FULL. YEAR. OF. TROPES!
Some Thursdays will have 2 tropes, some will have 3, but I think the majority will have 1 that's really popular.
Descriptions will be pulled from TV Tropes and a link provided if you want more information.
The rules? They're simple. Write at least 250 words or create 2 icons/1 banner. Anything from suggestive to outright porn is allowed.
This week, there are 2 tropes!
Dinner and a Show: When a family gets together in a Sitcom for a big family dinner, expect hilarity to ensue. Sometimes this is treated as just normal craziness that happens when everyone gets together. Frequently there's overlap with Dysfunctional Family, Obnoxious In-Laws, Parental Marriage Veto, and Big, Screwed-Up Family. There's usually someone who's outspoken and critical of other family members' lifestyle, choice of partner, job, etc. Sometimes, there's a Racist Grandma (or another relative) who likes to stir the pot, especially after one too many drinks, and who doesn't think that the rules of decorum apply to them. Occasionally, it's a relative announcing an engagement to someone the other family members don't like, or someone they haven't been seeing for very long.
White Sheep: Everyone is familiar with the teenager "going through a phase" or being an out-and-out rebel. Little can equal the shame to a family with a legacy of the heroism of a prodigal son or daughter who turns to villainy. Except, there are just as many families with a legacy of evil, so what exactly is a teen rebel supposed to do to rebel against people who are already rebelling?
Why...rebel against evil and make a Heel–Face Turn!
......
Naturally, some White Sheep may "grow out of the phase" and fully embrace their evil roots. Other times, they might discover that Good Feels Good (or that Being Evil Sucks) and make the change permanent. The parents of such a rebellious child may try to "correct" the problem by enrolling them in an Academy of Evil.
Contrast Black Sheep, where all inversions of this trope belong.
