Here’s the rules:
1) 100 words or 1 graphic for each letter of the alphabet.

It’s that easy.
And perk – It’s the alphabet you know what’s coming if you want to get ahead of it. There is no need for your work to all connect. There is no need for them to be in order.

Like the Numbers challenge, if you are stuck or would like a random word to use, poke me and I will provide.

Now everyone give me a

Based on a true story of a true idiot cat.

--

Ethan looked up from the pile of papers he’d been reading. Travis had printed off the most recent chapter of his work in progress and had asked for an opinion on it. Never one to turn down anything Murph had written, Ethan had eagerly accepted. But something kept distracting him.

crinkle, crinkle

He looked around the living room and didn’t see anything that could be possibly making the noise. Setting the papers aside, he got up and moved into the dining room. Nothing there, either.

“Weird,” he muttered. Then, he heard it again.

crinkle, crinkle

It sounded like it was coming from the kitchen. Quietly, Ethan stepped onto the tile, aware that the slightest noise could startle whatever was causing the sound. But he saw nothing.

“What the hell?” He rubbed the back of his neck and gave the kitchen another cursory inspection, still not finding anything that could possibly be making the crinkling sound. “I’m losing my damn mind.”

Convinced he was hearing things, he poured himself a cup of coffee before turning towards the living room. He had one foot on the hardwood of the dining room when he heard it again.

crinkle, crinkle

And then a faint, high-pitched mew.

Ethan’s brows drew together. He knew that sound. “Breannan? Ryan? Which one of you is that?”

Another mew, this one coming from the direction of the pantry. Of course, it was, he thought. Before he even got the door open, he knew he’d find Ryan sitting in a pile of plastic grocery bags that Travis kept on hand for cleaning the litter box. But plastic bags didn’t crinkle.

He pulled the door open and squatted down, calling, “Okay, crackhead, it’s safe to come out.”

A large, furry head poked out from between the canister of protein powder and the bottle of what Travis claimed was homemade vanilla. Ryan greeted Ethan with a happy meow.

Satisfied that the cat was safe and that Travis wasn’t going to have a meltdown, Ethan rose to his feet. “Come on, you dumbass animal. Let’s go.”

Ryan disappeared for a second before reappearing with a red and green cat toy that looked like it was made out of foil. He made a graceful leap over the plastic bags and rubbed against Ethan’s leg before trotting off, toy in his mouth, to find a sunbeam to sleep in.

“Hey,” Travis said, coming into the kitchen and topping off his own mug of coffee. “I see Ryan found his Christmas toy. It’s been MIA since New Year’s.” He paused, seeing the look that Ethan was giving him. “What?”

“Your idiot cat was locked in the pantry with that toy,” Ethan said.

Travis frowned. “Hmm, I wonder if he knocked it in there and forgot about it?” He shrugged. “How’s the reading going?”

“Should go pretty quickly now that I’m not trying to figure out what’s making that annoying crinkle crankle noise.”

Ryan trotted back through the dining room, dropping his toy at Travis’ feet. He gave his human a nuzzle before attacking the toy, batting it under the table, crinkling and crankling the whole time.

Travis blinked.

Ethan sighed. “I’m going to go sit on the porch and finish your chapter.”

“But,” Travis said, looking out the sliding glass door that led onto the porch. “It’s snowing.”

“I’ll bundle up,” Ethan said. “Anything for five minutes of peace and quiet.”
