1st Long Challenge 2021: WIP Push!

Hey everyone, it's the start of another year (OK, the month is already over two weeks old, but let's not quibble!), and here's the first long challenge for you!

kitmerlot1213 will be dishing up a Three Sentence Fic challenge in Feb, but until then, for those interested, here's the WIP challenge info:

WIP Push, if you've never done it before, is all about dragging out something or somethings from your WIP folder and getting it done! If you add words to it over the period of the challenge, which runs from now until Feb 28th, then you have participated and I'll make you a participation banner at the end. If you complete and post something, you'll get a completion banner! Sound good?

You can work on a fanfic, an original fic, graphics, or whatever else you count words for; it's all good! No matter what the style, genre, fandom, or size - it's all good and all qualifies! You can even use other challenges concurrently - so if you have a WIP that needs work and say for example you decide to use the word of the day as your prompts to work on, then it counts towards both challenges. Same with any other challenge that's ongoing!

I've decided that maybe a daily goal or an overall goal might be something we could work to. Myself, I'm thinking I will work on all the banners and icons etc I need to get done for people. I'm calling this a 'work in progress' because I've had them on my list to do for a while, and although I can't honestly say I'm underway yet, I am in charge and I'm saying it counts! So if you too have graphics or words that you owe to something or someone, whether or not it's started, you can work on that if you want under this challenge.

My goal is therefore: 2 x Bingo reward banners, 1 x icon (though I'll probably make a few) as a Weekend Challenge reward, and I owe 100 written words on a WIP as a Weekend Challenge reward as well. If I get all of these done, I'm calling this challenge done, but I hope to also get at least 500 extra words on a written WIP, though I haven't decided which one yet!

I'm working towards completing my NaNo project. I'm not sure I can get it finished (this first draft anyhow) in a month, as I'm only about 1/2 through it...but the goal is to have the draft as near to finished as possible.
Since work doesn't allow for much good writing time during the week, I'm gonna shoot for 2-3 chapters a week.
We'll see how that plays out ;)

I am so in on this! My goal is to complete a QaF fic that I have due, and also to at least come close to completion on my Small Fandom Bang fic.

I think a weekly check-in would be awesome!

Excellent! I also plan to post mid-week with some prompts for those who need them. And at the end of each week we'll do the check-in and maybe offer a few more prompts if people want them.

Sounds good. I've got 2 jobs, my grad courses, and my anthology story due March 1st... I don't have time to write extra stuff (as I sit here writing something new and not on that story... and yeah.)

lol while talking to somebody one day, i counted up how many current WIP i have...I have over 20. some of them really only need one or two more chapters to be finished too. some are just collections of one shots so don't *really* count, but they're still open to being added onto. Oh wow, that's a lot! I have a bunch myself, but due to dumps over recent years (just lost interest mostly and was never going to finish them), I managed to get mine down to 10! LOL.

I have two WIPs I really want to finish up - especially since I was overly optimistic last May and started posting them....then just let them sit there. :\

I have made progress on one this week, and the next chapter in that world should be easy to get rolling on. The other fic might be a tougher push - more complicated plot line. But I really would like them both finished and posted so I'm making that my goal.

I'm in. I have a fic that I started in 2016 that I would like to finish. I completed one last year and it felt really good to finally clear it off my "board". It is an AU, so with luck, I can double dip and use it to fill a prompt for another challenge :)

I have 2 small exchange fics that are due - one in the 1st week of Feb, and one on Feb 14th so I think a weekly/overall goal is what I will be aiming for.

My writing brain was kidnapped by the current dark!fic that I'm writing, but I would actually like to finish one I got two chapters in before that happened. It is the second in a series and I know in my head where I want it to go - I just need to ignore all of the new plot bunnies in order to get there!

Second, I dusted off an old WIP I started in 2016? 2017? But remember now why I never finished it. I'm going for 500 words a day, hopefully at least 1 chapter a week.

ETA: Now if I could only do this with the 30+ books I have that are 'currently reading', I'd be golden. HAH.

Definitely have a few I can dust off - I was only thinking the other day I need to finish "Legends of Tomorrow meet the Princes in the Tower" but I have a few other shorter ones I can finish!
