When the song faded, Tamara motioned to someone in the gathered crowd with a smile. “Not many of you know Grace yet…she’s relatively new to Havensport and the Tomlin Dance Company…but you’ll know her soon enough.”
The young woman smiled a little sheepishly at Tevan, but when she crossed to the center of the floor, there was no embarrassment in her stride or on her face. She had yet to perform publically in the company as anything more than a background or chorus dancer, but she ached for the notice, for the chance for her gift to shine, and when Tamara had asked her to dance, there had been no way she could refuse. This would be her first solo performance in Havensport, a moment she had daydreamed about since moving here. She had to be good.
Where she had left him, Tevan’s face beamed with pride as his mother began to sing and Grace began to move.
