This week, an article with thoughts on short sentences-  and dialogue with punch...

Sorry to have failed to post it on Tuesday. It's been a crazy week here; thirteen hour workday yesterday, ten the day before.... it feels like it was just Sunday and now it's Wednesday. Everything in between is a blur.

Anyway, I was taking a needed mental break when I saw this on Facebook. Yay! Instant tip!

The Short Sentence as Gospel Truth

Don't let the article title push you away from it. The columnist talks briefly about why points people are trying to drive home are often crafted into short sentences. Then, it gets into much more interesting territory - at least to me - about how a short sentence used at the end of a paragraph of description can drive a point home. I must have an author or three I like who uses that little trick, because I like it and use it, too.

I'll leave it at that - hope you find it interesting, and something perhaps to tuck away for use somewhere down the writing road. Let me know what you think!

Awesome article - thanks for the link! This is something I have used and like to see used, so it's good to read why it works (I kind of intuited it but didn't really 'get' why, as analysis is not my thing, as I've said before). It feels like validation. ;-)
