Well hello there day two of music month!

Let's try some musicals!!!!

I grew up as a Rodgers & Hammerstein girl. But perhaps your prefer Sondheim, Andrew Lloyd Weber, Berlin, Porter, Gershwin, Miranda, or even Disney!

I legitimately wrote letters to a friend of mine all through college that were interspersed with lines from Oklahoma!

So give me some of your favorite musicals. Favorite songs from them. Favorite lines from those songs!

Does someone in your OTP love them, someone hate them? Is there Disney playing constantly in the background? Does someone go out to their car at lunch break and belt out Frozen tunes to calm down? Does someone sing Unicorns, I love them until the need to stab someone dissapears (I may be projecting here)?

Make Gilbert & Sullivan proud!

LIST THEM OUT AND BE INSPIRED!!!

My dad LOVED musicals. The Music Man was his - and is my - favorite. But also The King and I and The Sound of Music. I'm going to have to think on this because with Zayne, it could be very fun. Hahaha.

I'm also an R&H girl. Even more, a R&H-Disney girl :D Also Comden&Green.

The Happiest Millionaire <--first movie I knew all the words to and forever my No1
On the Town <--second movie I knew all the words to
Shrek the Musical -- SIRIUSLY THE BEST THING EVER INVENTED.
Singin' in the Rain (movie version because honestly)
1776 (movie version, but I'll take the cast album, because there was no soundtrack. ALAS Also the revival, because Brent Spiner as John Adams is just.. GUH)
The Music Man (specifically the Robert Preston-movie version)
White Christmas (again, movie-version)

fic-wise...
+ Wyatt Cain is slightly obsessed with Singin' in the Rain, in one my Tin Man fics, because I can.
+ Shrek the Musical is literally Star Trek Voyager on a disc, if you are a Janeway/Chakotay shipper 100%
+ I have honestly written the best scene (in my opinion) from The Happiest Millionaire into a Tin Man fic because, again, I could.

song-specific...
+ Monster from Broadway!Frozen is my main OC/AU girl's theme song
+ Story of My Life from Shrek the Musical inspired the best piece of fanart (in my head.. actual output was less than stellar) for Once Upon a Time
+ She Used to Be Mine from Waitress the Musical is the most S1-2 Emma Swan (OUaT) song ever

Jesus Christ Superstar...one of my roomies in college got me hooked on the original LPs (and subsequently Murray Head, who sang the original Judas...brother of Anthony Stewart Head)
and by way of that, I came upon Chess...and One Night in Bangkok...also sung by Murray :)

I love Disney, and most DreamWorks, but it's really hard to pick a favorite when it comes to Disney. As far as DreamWorks is concerned, Shrek and Spirit hands down. In fact, listening to the Spirit: Stallion of the Cimaron soundtrack has been known to inspire me when nothing else will work.
