Absolutely. I was lucky enough to marry a man that had been my friend for years before we ever dated. And in the end, when it's all said and done, friends are all you have left.

It is always nice when you marry a person who was a friend first. (My husband was my friend for five years before we went for more.)

It was a good day - we don't go all out any more (our older girl's birthday is exactly a week later, so we splurge on her rather than ourselves), but we had a good time together.
