To sprinkle more of edu’ de awesome on our Monday (Moonday for TW fans), I have the word total from our race!


But before I give out the total I’d like to give a shout out to haldoor, chokolattejedi, thtwzjustadream, sharpiesgal, simplyn2deep, kaige68, snowstormskies, and team_allen all who finish something this weekend. Some were some long standing WIPS!


So drum roll please, over the last two days with all check ins we have written


50,966 WORDS! or 32% OF OUR MONTHLY GOAL!





HERE IS SOME MORE NUMBERS FOR YOU. NOT ONLY IN 2 DAYS DID WE BEAT LAST WEEKEND, BUT IN 5 DAYS (both weekends) WE HIT 94,389 words or 60.8% OF THAT BIG BUDDY JULY NUMBER!
(I should hear the screams of Kaige from here!)

Also these number could be higher, I had a few peps yet to check in last night.

Also I want to give another shout out to scraplove, and sagaluthien. Both ladies did not compete but filled my box (message box people minds, out of the gutter) with fills from the A-Z Challenge bringing in another 2k+ between the 2 of them.

Dog is out, coffee is poured, I overslept, it feels like a Monday. But on the other hand, it means that WE ARE AWESOME!!!!!. Sure, we already knew that, but it's worth repeating.

YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW EXCITED I AM FOR THURSDAY!!!! It really is all I can do not to peek!

I spent the entire weekend writing so I am insanely behind on comments and posts, you have my most sincere apologies. I hope to have the comments caught up by the end of tomorrow, and plan to read as much as I can the first few days of August.

So before we get to the awesome weekend that I had, couple of reminders:
Big Buddy's last check in is Wednesday - How are you all doing? Are you making your quota?
Our July Pool Party comes to a close this week too. It's time to pack up your towel and head home? Anyone need help? Everyone okay to drive?
Monthly totals need to be updated by the end of Wednesday. I have a really good feeling about this month.
Haldoor's Birthday festival thing ends in 2 weeks. The last time I counted we were at about 12.5k, which is AWESOME. WE CAN DO THIS!
I'm sure there's more, but I haven't had enough coffee, so - You'll probably get spammed today.

Now back to me! Last week when I hit 18k for the month (*squee* I've never been over 12 before), I promised myself that if I got to 28k, I would let myself spend the money on a handbag that I don't need, if I hit 30K, I can get the wallet too. WELL *drumroll* 28 happened yesterday! I am actually 1,017 away from wallet, which will be easy peasy with the little daily things I've been doing!

Sure, my accessories don't matter all that much in the scheme of things, but for a different perspective - I struggled to get 50k done for the whole of last year, to get 30k done in a month is MASSIVE for me! I owe it all to all of you! The purse is just a tangible sign that I can do it. THANK YOU!!

Comment here with the count you can reach in the month of August (remember to factor in holidays, road trips, pajama days, hangovers). I will check in with you every 6 days to make sure you are on schedule, to push you if you aren't, and to shake pompoms at you if you are (Well, I'll probably shake pompoms at you either way).

Your count is up to you. There is no minimum beyond what you decide. But Big Buddy will be watching you! If you pledge 100 words/images, then every 6 days (20% of August) chime in to tell us that you've produced 20% of them.

Taken the concept of the USN band and then probably messed up all the facts, but it is fanfic, so taking liberties is part of the job description :p

What to count.

H and I have reviewed the poll as well as the comments, and have come to the conclusion that this is a very personal topic. Creating is a personal thing. So, we are going to leave it to each of you, as a personal choice of your own, to decide what projects you count here.

We are each going to be responsible for drawing our own lines, deciding what we count and what we don’t. We believe the line is between passion and obligation. The gray area comes into play when we become passionate about our obligations and/or are obliged to our passions.

We don’t feel that we can tell you ‘count this, don’t count that’. Only you know what you are passionate about, only you can decide which projects you count. This isn’t meant to be wishy-washy, we are both emphatic about the things we count personally. But we both understand that it takes a village to collect ten million words.

August Challenge Poll!

I know I've been very slack in getting back to you guys on this, but here at last is the poll about the fandoms available for August Rush, my challenge for August. ;-)

( poll away - choose as many as you like; you will not be held to using ALL of them for the challenge! )

I figured this may be easier for some of you to think on if you know how the challenge will work, so this is what I'm looking at doing:

- The challenge will run for 20 days for the weekdays from 5-9, 12-16, 19-23 and 26-30 August, with the weekends as 'catch-up' days.
- Every day of the challenge I will post a graphic from each of the 'top five' fandoms as voted by you.
- For each day's graphic in your chosen fandom, you will be asked to create at least either a drabble or two icons.
- Should you wish, you can collect up your week's graphics and from all of them create a 500+ word fic or a banner/wallpaper
- OR you can write a 2K+ fic from all of them, or create 40 icons, or create 5 banners/wallpapers
- OR create any combination of the above that makes up the numbers, eg: 1 banner, 10 icons, 5 drabbles and one 500 word fic; or 20 icons and a 1K fic; or any other combo like this
- If you want to choose a different fandom for each week, each day or any other combination that works for you (all of them if you want!), that's up to you. What the heck, if you're that ambitious, you can even do all the days for more than one fandom!

At the end of the month, I will offer either a banner or a 500 word fic of your choosing to all of you who complete the full challenge. I'll do one drabble or two icons worth of reward for every week's worth of creations to everyone who doesn't manage the whole four weeks, and for everyone who attempts but can't manage a full week, there will be a generic challenge icon for your use for joining in - every word/image counts, after all, and I don't want anyone who wants to play to be left out, if I can help it. ;-)

Sound simple enough? Ask me any questions if I haven't covered it here, and do point out anything I haven't thought of, because my memory is notoriously bad! Oh, and you can double-dip - if these words can also count for other challenges or prompts here at the comm or elsewhere, that's all good too!

I'll run over these rules again when I post for sign-ups, and explain anything else then that occurs to me.

Now, go back and vote! I'll close the vote at midnight on the 31st July (my time, which is a little earlier than almost everyone else, but if you miss that, don't worry, you can still join in the challenge! ;-)
