Weekend Challenge volunteers, please!

We have such a great comm! So many word-makers, graphics-makers, beta-readers, cheerleaders, and idea-spreaders! I would like to celebrate you all today, and also thank you all for coming on board and always be so willing to share, celebrate and encourage each other! I would also like to thank each and every member who has joined in and taken our little comm. to heart.

Now, I also need to ask a favour - needless to say! But that certainly isn't the only reason to tell you all how wonderful you are - it just felt like ages since I'd done it!

And the favour is this: we need more weekend challenge volunteers! Our schedule is almost at an end once more, so I need to get the second half of the year's schedule up and running! If you want to go again, yay! If you've never done it but have been dying to run one yourself - come on down! Maybe a couple of you want to co-run something - it's all good!

If you're not sure how it works, have a look at this post for a copy of the current schedule, and check out the FAQ or some of the previous weekend challenges (see the pretty tags!) for an idea.


Basically, on a Friday afternoon (or at the latest Saturday morning), you throw out some kind of challenge to be completed by Sunday or Monday (challenger's choice of timezone) and for those who make it in time, you offer rewards like drabbles, icons, sigtags, words in a WIP or whatever else you feel able to provide. There is no upper limit to what people taking part can complete, but you'd normally suggest a lowish minimum like 300 words or 3 icons, so it's do-able in a weekend for those who are busy or limited in their output. We have had all sorts of challenges before now, and any can be repeated in your own style, but maybe you've got some fresh new ideas - it's all welcome here; we're just after something to prompt people to make more written or graphic words!


So if you're keen to have a go, comment here! The first available weekend is 8-10 July 2016, and we'll keep going till the last weekend in December (which I'll take if no one else can manage it). In your comment, be sure to note any specific weekends/periods you cannot take, and/or periods you would prefer your date/s to be in, and how many weekends you feel able to deal with. There are 26 of 'em, so plenty to go around! Come on along; it's fun!

I'll leave this post open for replies for about a week, and then start working on the schedule! ;-)

I would prefer not the last couple of weeks in September and the first couple of weeks in October (Freshers week is going to have me running around like a mad man). Other than that I am fine :)

I would like to volunteer--I know I freaked out the first time I organized the Weekend Challenge, but now I know what's required of me and I'm excited to do it :)

But of course I'd understand if you didn't want to deal with the drama or you could just put me in as a back up--it's all good whatever you decide :):)

I'd love to try this. But I'm a bit afraid about the rewards. :o( Am I also allowed to offer only graphics for this? Or has to be it words? I can also award words in a WIP. But I'm not sure I'm able to write so many drabbles for all those people. :o( Help?

Please don't be afraid about rewards! Graphics and WIP words are absolutely fine if that's what you feel you're capable of providing as rewards! The other option would be to ask for people to help with rewards - I know several of our members are happy to do this, and I can point you in their direction when needed, or you can just ask for other rewarders to help when you post your challenge!

How about I put you down for one weekend for now? If it gets too much then, we'll get some other help in! let me know if there's any dates you can't do.

Am I allowed to post this Challenge then Friday morning my time (although it's not Friday then in America)? Or has to be it later for American people also?

Yes, please point me to this direction. :o) Or how does asking work with this Challenge? Do I have to post that I need help with this? (Sorry if this question sounds stupid. *meh*)

I would suggest you post later, but if Friday morning your time is really the only time you can manage it, you can always 'schedule' it to post later and come back to answer comments if needed. For instance I am a whole day ahead of most of our members, but I tend to post late on Friday night my time so that the post will be there for America first thing on Friday morning. If you are in Europe, I would suggest you post Friday eve/night your time and that works fine. If you can't, there's always Saturday morning your time as it will still be Friday night in America.

Don't worry about sounding stupid! There are no dumb questions, really! I normally remind people by PM on the Wed/Thurs before they are scheduled on the Weekend Challenge, so when you reply in your week, if you want help, let me know and I will give you some names - you can them PM them to ask for help. Otherwise, you can just add it into your actual Challenge post - something like this: 'Please comment here if you can help with rewards as I'm not sure I can manage all of them' - word it however you like but something to that effect usually works! ;-)

Yes, I'm in Europe. :o) So this was my question. (The main problem here is probably that I'll never know how my working shedule will be on Friday or Saturday. So that was the reason for my asking.)

Okay. Sign me up for one weekend only at the moment. :o) Maybe after this I'm able to do another weekend. But right now only one weekend please. :o)
