How about a Steve/Danny fic with a whole lot of Gracie.
“Steve,” at the sound of his name being called, Steve looked up to see Gracie enter his study.
“What’s up Miss Grace?”
“Do you know how to dance?”
“I can get by.” Steve answered, watching Gracie chew on her lower lip, thinking. “Are you, Gracie Williams, scared about this dance? You the same girl that watched her father get shot at a camping retreat and then help get your troop out of a shed?”
“I know, but Steve it’s a very important dance,” Gracie countered.
“Yeah, it is pretty important. So are you asking for some help?” Gracie just answered with a fast nod of her head.
“Okay Grace, let me get some music we have some time before your mom comes to get you.” *!* Everything looked perfect. All around here people were having a good time a chattering away with their friends and dates. Taking a deep breath to calm here nerves, Gracie’s silent chat of ‘I can do this’, played over and over in her head. Steve spent hours teaching her the moves; she had nothing to worry about.
The question of ‘May I have this dance?’ was spoken behind her, and Gracie turned around to see her father standing there in his new black tux he had bought for this night. Smiling Gracie took his head and her father led her to the dance floor.
As the tune to ‘Gracie’ started, Gracie took the first step of the practiced motions that her and Steve went through.
“You looked good today Monkey. I’m glad your where my best lady today.”
“I am a little too old to be a flower girl, Danno,” Gracie smiled at her father. It was impressive, being able to see him a little more eye to eye then the last time they danced.
“Yes, you are. You grew up right under my nose. You are even dancing better then they last time we did this. You remember that father, daughter dance?”
“Yes, but you have to thank Steve, I asked him to help me.” Gracie and Danny both glanced over at Steve, dashing in his black tux, talking to his sister Mary.
“Well, I am glad he’s taking his new step-father responsibility so well.”
