If you're like me, you like to listen to music while you write. Perhaps your budding NaNo novel or other project has a soundtrack, whether it be character based, or mood based or just songs that get the words moving across the page/screen. I thought I'd set this post up similar to the Word/Graphic counters where everyone can start their own thread and either post links to a playlist posted at sites such as 8tracks or Spotify or maybe you prefer to just post youtube links to individual tracks. However you want to share is fine.

Sometime during midmonth I'll post part 2 using the songs/lyrics/artists as inspiration.

This challenge is open to all. Rewards will be earned during the second part (hoping just the prospect of discovering new music is reward enough for this part).

Please refrain from commenting on others threads (same as in the counter posts) otherwise folks won't be able to go back and add/change their playlists easily. If you'd like to gush about an artist/song included, please use the Squee- thread :D

Deadline to have your music included in part 2 is Nov 13 at 11:59pm Eastern Time but the post will remain open all month.

Geek (noun, verb)
geek [geek]
Slang.

noun
1. a digital-technology expert or enthusiast (a term of pride as self-reference, but often used disparagingly by others).
2. a person who has excessive enthusiasm for and some expertise about a specialized subject or activity: a foreign-film geek.
3. a peculiar person, especially one who is perceived to be overly intellectual, unfashionable, or socially awkward.
4. a carnival performer who performs sensationally morbid or disgusting acts, as biting off the head of a live chicken.

verb (used without object)
5. to be overexcited about a specialized subject or activity, or to talk about it with excessive enthusiasm (usually followed by out): I could geek out about sci-fi for hours.

Origin: 1915- 20; probably variant of geck (mainly Scots) fool < Dutch or Low German gek

Now YOU come up with a sentence (or fic? or graphic?) that best illustrates the word.

This may be already the end of the first day for some depending on your timezone ...

Chime in on anything NaNo or miniwrimo related - successes, failures, genre of your project -

If you make use of the official NaNoWriMo web site and would like more writing buddies please leave a comment with your NaNo participant name (I'm craterdweller there and just about everywhere - feel free to add me).

Official word count goal for today for NaNo participants is 1667 words.

Now I'm off to make a playlist and get started.

Good luck to all!

I DESPERATELY need to get another chapter done and posted on my H50 epic. Anyone interested in a word war tonight? It seems to be the only way I can get things done.

I'm thinking 7pm EST (-5:00 GMT). 25 minute wars with 10 minute breaks, we could do 4 of them ending a little after 9.

Interest?

Now, I know [livejournal.com profile] craterdweller has already posted to see who's up for NaNoWriMo this year, and I also know that several of you are doing it, as well as a bunch of you having signed up for [livejournal.com profile] mini_wrimo, which is fantabulous! For this reason, November's challenge will revolve around this.

Personally, while 50K might be doable in any months EXCEPT November/December (Christmas prep, anyone? End of School Year in the Southern Hemisphere doesn't help either if you have kids) if I put my heart into it, generally I know it's a bit out of my league. I have participated in mini-wrimo a few times and that was awesome, but man, can it be hard to get yourself in the right place to write EVERY day!

Anyway, as Crater has already explained, WE ARE HERE FOR YOU! So if you're doing either of those challenges, we will here to help and support you - Crater's running some Word Wars on weekends and will also post some Playlist Posts and such.

As for me, I am going to post every few days to see how you're getting on; if you need help, be it some inspiration for something or just a "YAY! You're doing well! Keep going!", we'll all be here cheerleading and offering support, advice, thoughts or whatever else you're after. So be sure and check those posts out! I will also try and run some Word Wars on WEDNESDAY AFTERNOONS (NZDT 5-6pm-ish = UTC 4-5am Wednesday mornings) if anyone is interested. Let me know!

NOT ONLY, BUT ALSO.....THIS:

For those of you not joining the formal Nano groups, we will have our own 1MW 'Go, Nano, Go' group! )

Sound good? EXCELLENT! And you can sign into my semi-daily posts (at this point I'm thinking every 2-3 days) and let us know how you're going. WE WILL ROCK THIS MONTH! Go, Nano, Go, whatever challenge you're playing in!

I just wrote 102 words for mini_wrimo. My goal was "100 words per day". So I'm done with it. ;D

First I wanted to write something for Wednesday One Image. But then I got some really bad news earlier today. :o( So in the end I came back to my fanfiction "One last time" and added 102 words.

I was in the mood for more words but I just stopped. ;o) My goal is "100 words per day" and sometimes I'm not in the mood for writing. So in this case it's good to still have something in mind that I want to write. (Sorry...)

I'm also still not done with my idea from my entry from 28th October. But there are still enough days to make this. ;D

I'll pass to [livejournal.com profile] haldoor. Good luck for your words and have fun. *-*
