When I saw the reminder come up in my calendar that today would be thinky-thoughts day (I really do try everything to remind myself of things) I thought "I've got nothing." So I e-mailed [livejournal.com profile] haldoor to offer it to her or to see if she had a topic worth discussing. She had nothing. But then she came back to me with "Well, what about nothing?" And I thought that was an excellent plan!

Imagine yourself, sitting in front of your word processing program of choice. It's all nice and crisply white, the color of creativity, the color of possibilities, the color of What the F@&% should I do?

I've got an e-mail folder of 'to write' that I don't look to as often as I should, and I've got a white wipey board of 'get things done in this order' that does help when I'm feeling focused. I've also got a few WIP that are tugging at my sleeves, but it isn't always enough.

So let's discuss how you deal with that blank page. What do you do to get the words starting? Where does the push for the next project come when you've finished your Big Bang? Who do you turn to and say "Have you got anything"?

Ingenious (adjective)
in·gen·ious [in-jeen-yuhs]

adjective
1. characterized by cleverness or originality of invention or construction: an ingenious machine.
2. cleverly inventive or resourceful: an ingenious press agent.
3. Obsolete.
a. intelligent; showing genius.
b. ingenuous.

Synonyms
2. bright, gifted, able, resourceful; adroit.

Antonyms
2. unskillful.

Usage note
Ingenious and ingenuous are now distinct from each other and are not synonyms. Ingenious means “characterized by cleverness” or “cleverly inventive,” as in contriving new explanations or methods: an ingenious device; ingenious designers. Ingenuous means “candid” or “innocent”: an ingenuous and sincere statement; a thug with the ingenuous eyes of a choirboy.

Origin: 1375–1425; late Middle English < Latin ingeniōsus, equivalent to ingeni ( um ) natural disposition, cleverness ( in- in- + gen- (base of gignere to bring into being; cf. genitor) + -ium -ium) + -ōsus -ous

Now YOU come up with a sentence (or fic? or graphic?) that best illustrates the word.

Sorry! The image is a little late this week due to unforeseen circumstances. However, to make it up to all of you, I decided to go with something a little different...

This pic may be considered NSFW. I take no responsibility for any spontaneous combustion that happens upon entering under the cut. )

Now, if you can, create something inspired by or from the pretty picture! I'd love to see some fic, icons, banners, or any other thing you feel inspired to make! ;-)
