Some fabulous things have happened this week here, and we’ll leave some of it for Monday’s awesomeness, but there have been other things going on that have made me think, and thinking makes me ramble and … Well, you’ve seen me post at 5 in the morning so you already know.



1) Remember that this is the first time I have ever modded anything? Yeah. So the home/information page here leaves a lot to be desired. For instance it doesn’t actually say how to join the comm. *headdesk* Other than that, is there anything else that should be spelled out in the info page?

2) amaryllisssa posted a link about getting to your goal by making it a commitment and making that commitment public knowledge. While we do that here, I do think we can do more about it, and I have a couple more suggestions to throw at you.

A) What are your thoughts on Count Buddies? Someone who could quietly PM you and say Hey, did you make your word quota today? Did you want to throw some rough ideas at me? Did you remember to feed the dog?, someone that you would do the same for as well. Could be someone you pick, or if you want us to find you someone we could do that. Sometimes being accountable to a stranger makes you feel more accountable.

B) I made words today Challenge. You’ve seen the fandom challenges where you sign up, get tagged, and have a 24 hour turn around to produce? We can do that! “I made my quota today and I tag haldoor!” And so haldoor has 24 hours to pass because she’ll be at an Aloha Girls campout or to RedRover herself over, and tag someone else in turn.

3) azziria posted a link to a drabble writing workshop. The writer there mentions that writing a drabble is also a tool in learning self-edit. To date, in any challenges we’ve done, anyone who has gone over drabble length I’ve just been all “YAY MORE WORDS!” and I still will be. But then azziria mentioned that round robining (why does spell-check say robining isn’t a word?) from a Word-of-the-Day drabble could be great fun. And we’ve been meaning to do a round robin, so why not like this? Your drabbles are your own, so if you are ok with someone else taking off from what you wrote, put the whole drabble in the response to the WoD (and your own journal if you like), and leave some words at the end about being willing to play (It’s ok if you don’t want people working off your work too). We’ll count the drabble series done at 5 drabbles, they must be exactly 100 words each, and they must connect. Or, you know *nudge nudge graphic people* they could be icons that tell a story too!

4) What do you think of a Prompt Generator? Sometimes I just need a little something to get me going. Also whenever someone says Yes, write me a drabble, anything you want! my mind goes completely blank with too much to choose from in the whole wide universe. So if we had a dedicated page that was linked under the counters (see left) where someone could comment with a Hit me! and any one of the members tagged back with a word or an image. You could even qualify your Hit me!
