Good article! When I'm asked to beta-read, I state up front about how I go about doing it and what I think I can bring to the table. If they have different expectations, then we can cheerfully agree that I'm not the beta they're looking for :) I agree, a good beta that meshes well with you is worth their weight in fudge, salted chocolate-covered caramel, and waffle cheese (which I didn't even know existed until now I LIVE UNDER A ROCK OMG)
