Weekend Challenge volunteers, please!

OK, I'm getting this one in quickly. I have fairyniamh down for the coming weekend (I emailed you, Fairy, so just let me know!), but I need volunteers to run the challenge for the first half of the year, so sign up here!

I volunteer and yes, I'm actually going to be an adult and say that you can schedule me for more then two--maybe three? I'm feeling braver :)

I think only Easter weekend will be out (since its just before my bday so there may be plans)...I'm not aware of any other limitations at the moment.

I'd love to help out with these more often, but the same problem I face as a potential leader for the weekend challenge is the same issue that keeps me from even trying to participate in them more often as a writer or artist: Time frame. I, and so many others too, work the weekend. Fridays can be killer and leave very little time for anything else.

I mentioned something along these lines a while back when y'all did the survey asking for ideas, but if anybody responded, I didn't see it, so I'm just gonna throw it out there again. It would be great and would help the challenges to gain more participation, I think, if we could somehow extend them. One comm I enjoy participating in has an excellent way of doing this: They post the challenge about mid-week, and then everybody posts their answers on the actual weekend. Just a thought if we could possibly do something like this.

As it stands now, I'd love to help more but don't know if I'd have the time all that much on the weekend. I do, however, want to volunteer to run another Halloween challenge this year. That's my week of vacation, so I pretty well know I'll be around often enough to make that work if it's not already taken.

I'm so sorry I didn't respond to your comment in the poll! It's a very valid point and I don't think you were the only one who mentioned it. So what I am thinking we'll look at, instead of opening the post early, we will leave it open for people to respond to by the end of the week following, which I think will solve the problem for you, yes?

As for hosting, if you are keen, we can look at having you write up your post earlier in the week and schedule it to post on Friday morning. The challenges don't have to require a 'comment here' and you responding with a prompt. I have done it at times by posting all the prompts under a cut and allowing people to choose their own, either by looking at them all, or by choosing a number before heading under the cut to find the prompt; that way you don't have to be around until later in the week when you have time to respond to the fills.

And of course you may have Halloween again! I am only asking for volunteers for the first half of the year at the moment, so just remind me again when I post mid-year!

Does any of this make you feel more inclined to join in? I hope so, because I'm happy to change things up since we haven't actually kicked off this year properly yet.

Also, yay for this weekend! Can I ask you to have a look at my reply to katleept above? It would be great if you could change the 'fill the challenge by' to the end of the week after you post, i.e. have the closing date for entering the challenge as next Friday (12th), or if not then, at least Thurs 11th? It's going to take off a bit of pressure from those who work weekends but would otherwise like to join in. Thanks!
