Really Random Tuesday!

Or, if you actually know anything about me, you'd know this is a daily thing in these parts. Hahaha.

So, in honor of the changing season, thatwasjustadream had the fabulous idea of having a random prompt day every Tuesday until the end of the year.  Sound like fun?  I sure thought so.  I'm going to drop a few fun things for you today.  And just FYI: as tempted as I was to torture you with Walker Hayes' "Fancy Like", you'll have to find your own Bourbon Street Steak and Oreo Shake this week.

First, my current favorite song: "Dance with Me" by Niko Moon

Next, I have an entire Pinterest board full of pithy quips and sarcastic comebacks that I'm saving for a rainy day. A bit of potty language in today's choice.

Here, Hold My Morals

Lastly, a quote from something I read and thought was worthy of saving.

"When you know about something it stops being a nightmare. When you know how to fight something, it stops being so threatening." - Blood of Elves by Andrzej Sapkowski

I think that's enough wit and wisdom for one day. Hopefully something tickles the muse.

managed to use the two quotes (along with another prompt from elsewhere...)
a little piece of RP writing involving David Haller (MCU/Legion) and Wolverine (XMen)...no spoilers but a little bit of swearing...so PG I guess.
***
“You ever been skinny-dipping? Of course you have…someone like you…I’d like to do it some day…well, not like this…” David pointed at the sea life teaming outside of their air-pocket. “It looks cold…but you know…somewhere warm…with someone special…”

In his other life, the one fabricated for him as a soldier, he had traveled to a lot of places, but never somewhere special, with someone special. Until coming to Havensport, there hadn’t been any special he’d considered doing such things with. Until this ring got put on his hand, keeping the voices down, subduing that thing within him that sought to control him and take over his body, his mind, his soul, he had not even dared to hope.

“Or maybe Broadway…turn my life into a musical and…”

Logan growled and rubbed his temples.

“Well we’re not going to sit here in silence,” David scolded. “If you’re not gonna talk, then I will…”

“Nothing to talk about.”

“The claws? The blood?”

“That wasn’t me…”

“I’d wager someone out there would argue differently?” David sighed and drew his knees up to his chin, wrapping his arms around them.

“You wouldn’t understand…”

“Voices and compulsions making me do morally questionable, sketchy shit?” He smirked. “No…you’re right…wouldn’t know a thing about that…”

Logan opened his mouth but the retort he had been about to make withered at the back of his throat. If anyone in Havensport could understand being controlled by external forces, David Haller…or Carl Bruce…would be the two most likely to believe his claims of acting without control of his mind or his body. He hadn’t fully comprehended what he had done until after the fact, but it was much too late now to apologize.

Unless she had bled out, he believed, hoped, she still lived.

Thank God Murdock had been there to intervene.

“Mind-control isn’t exactly a legal defense…”

“Likely to get you locked up in the crazy house then in a jail…” Or put down. But how did you put someone like Logan down? “Wager Matthew could take care of you though…”

Again, Logan snorted. After that fight, after what he had done, he couldn’t see Murdock agreeing to represent him.

And to be honest, being locked up, one way or another, or put down like a dog, were the fates Logan felt he deserved after what had happened.

“Fucking nightmare…”

He lifted his head to David’s outstretched arm, eyeing the beer in his hand suspiciously. There was no point in asking where it had come from. A beer out of thin air made about as much sense as sitting in this temperature controlled bubble at the bottom of the Atlantic. He accepted the beer, wondering if he dared try to get out of this little pocket, go back to the cycle of drowning he had resigned himself to before David had found him, and nodded his head.

“Wouldn’t be a nightmare if you went back…fought what happened…for yourself…” The Wolverine raised one eyebrow and David shrugged. “Or we could just sit here and talk…”

“How about we sit here and not talk.”

David grinned. “Or that too.”

Time did not matter in this place. Hunger, thirst, exhaustion…none of it was real here. The voices on the outside told him what he needed to know. As soon as Logan was over his personal misery-wallow…a place and activity David knew well…they could resolve this matter once and for all.

“Just know I got your back. I’m on your side.”

Again Logan growled, beer to his lips as he watched the teeming sea animals go on about their lives.

He didn’t believe he had a life. Not any more. But he wasn’t so sure that being stuck here in this ‘out of life’ experience was the way he wanted to live out his days either. Not with David’s chattering to fill the void.

I do love the challenge of pulling a bunch of random bits together ;)
I've got 2 more RP bits I need to do...hopefully today...after I get over my food coma...so hopefully I can pull some more prompts together.
