Musical 70's

I'm late, but I'm here!

And lets start this week with some wonderful genres, 'cause the 70's feels to me like it ran the gamut.

Eagles, Lynard Skynard, Donna Summer, Fleetwood Mac, Al Green, Queen, The Knack, The BeeGees and, of course, ABBA. And that's not even the tip of a diverse iceberg!

Remember how the stars stole the night away.

A fantabulous night to make romance

Wake up, Maggie, I think I got something to say to you

I will survive... Baby, come back... You don't have to be a star...50 ways to leave your lover... Lady Marmalade... Seasons in the Sun... You're so vain... American Pie... Knock three times... Raindrops keep fallin' on my head - WOW that's a list!

Go be inspired and sing me some words or graphics!!!

Excellent! Bubblegum music was still alive and well in the early 70's and that's giving me lots of ideas. HAHAHA.

Oh, and if anyone needs inspiration, I found a list of all the number one singles for the 1970's here (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Billboard_Hot_100_number-one_singles_of_the_1970s).

I love story songs to death - from the best of them to the most saccharine, just give me a STORY SONG. The 70s were so chock full of them. Edmund Fitzgerald, Seasons in the Sun, Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia, Taxi, Cats in the Cradle, Shannon, Wildfire (gah, I still can barely listen to that one), Please Come to Boston, Bad Bad Leroy Brown.

There were songs that were borderline story songs- Space Oddity, One Piece at a Time (Johnny Cash), The Streak, Jolene.

Worst story song ever? Maybe Run, Joey, Run. Lol.

🤣 Well, it *was* a very catchy song.

This here is the reason I love country music so much. Maybe not the newer stuff, but definitely the older stuff.

Definitely - country's great for story songs in every decade! Geez, that one genre might make up half the country songs, actually! :)

So true! And a lot of the music in the 70's was pretty close to country, even in the rock genre.

I did think of one of the best though after I commented earlier - Reba's "Fancy".
