RARE PAIR CHALLENGE!!!

So I'm late, but... IT'S RARE PAIR MONTH!!!

I do love the idea of rare pairs. It's one of my fav things! The problem I find is that some pairs occur to be by the way the writers write them in canon or the way they snark. But a lot of others just don't occur to me. I'm just conditioned that when I think Inception I think Arthur/Eames and Yusuf/Mal never crosses my mind. It happens with every fandom I play in. I just can't see beyond my nose until someone adjusts my glasses.

So let's chat for a bit about fandoms and rare pairs. Leave a suggestion of a rare pair from a fandom or seven, leave a suggestion of a scenario, leave a prompt, leave an image.

Also - This year let's not define rare pairs as what is rare to fandom, but what is rare for you. If you've always shipped Stiles/Allison take a stab at something different for you!

The challenges can be met with written words (min of 1,000) or graphic words (min 5 icons). OR in the spirit of rare pairs, you could work together with someone you've never worked with and give us something twice as nice!

I agree with the other posters, I like your definition of rarepair! Too often do I see main pairs in rare fandoms being relegated to rarepair status, when the problem isn't actually the rarity of the pair but the rarity of the fandom.

Hmm... I'd prefer someone to hit me up with something in one of my fandoms, because if I don't normally think of it then... I wouldn't think of it? I'll list some big fandoms and the main ships I've seen around below:

- Teen Wolf (Sterek, anything hinted at in canon, everybody/Stiles)
- MCU (Clint/Coulson; I've also seen a lot of Steve/Bucky, Steve/Tony, Clint/Natasha, Phil/May, and canon-acknowledged pairs, etc. around so I wouldn't consider these as rarepairs either)
- Star Wars (Han/Leia, Poe/Finn/Rey, ObiAnaPadme, ObiQui, ObiSiri, QuiTahl, canon pairs)
- Bleach (I think pretty much everyone gets shipped with Ichigo, and most friends get shipped together)
- Any sports anime within the last decade; not gonna list them all here because it's likely that nobody knows about these anyway.

And yes, I'm aware of what I'm asking. The last time I challenged people to offer me rarepairs a friend suggested Bellatrix/Dementor. She regretted it when I handed the fic to her. Ah, sweet revenge.

I have seen various combinations of Han/Leia/Luke before, so while it's not something I'd normally do it's also not exceptionally outlandish.

I'd signed up for a Valentine's flashfic exchange, and the weirdest SW pairing I saw was Finn/Mace Windu. This is the kind of thing I meant by "so rare you'd never even think of it" XD

So, H and I have discussed this back and forth which is what took us so long to answer.

We hate to discourage words, but a fic about only Charlie would not be about a rare pair. I think you could very easily twist slightly and make it work, a rare pair anywhere in the fic would count. Sorry hon.

MCU: Not sure what characters you like, but here are some ideas: Loki/Clint, Loki/Tony (not sure if that’s rare), Steve/Thor, Steve/Loki, Bucky/Tony, Bucky/Natasha (not sure if that’s rare), Sam/Natasha, Pepper/Bucky.

Agents of SHIELD: personally I’d love to see Fitz/Mack (that might not be rare, I’m not really in the fandom), Bobbi/Jemma, Bobbi/May.

This is so cool! Wouldn't it be a kick in the pants if you know your kid online through ficdom and yet don't realize it's her? I love getting together with writers in person, and yet it so rarely happens!
