We've had most of the wind now, and that was pretty ferocious, but we didn't have any damage thankfully. Battened down the hatches well! Apart from 2 small rabbits having their enclosure blown slightly off the pallets it sits on so they got out into the yard (luckily they couldn't go any further), no issues. That enclosure will be tied to the pallet before long, but we've had a lot of rain since so it wasn't practical to do it. Last night the thunderstorms and heavy rain came... more are due today, but it's eased off at the moment. The worst thing for us has been the unseasonal humidity. Just when things were cooling down and we were getting used to wearing more, suddenly it was hot and heavy!
Glad you've been able to find good Easter things for the girls!
I do like tomatoes, but so does the dog, so we didn't have any growing last season as he ate most of them the year before - straight off the vine! He loves strawberries too, but we had them in a raised bed and it was covered to keep the birds off, so he couldn't get them! We need to figure out something better for tomatoes before we try growing them again!
As for blackberries, there was a bush here when we arrived, so some years we've had a crop, but it's tricky as it's on the retaining wall and puts out long creeping tendrils which fall down the wall behind the house and they are prickly! We only have a narrow alley back there so my hubby sometimes cuts it back so we don't hurt ourselves. They're pretty invasive too, if you don't cut them back after they fruit every year, but are hardy as hell and will keep coming back, and they spread easily too. They love the sun and our humidity - they would probably cope with your heat as long as they got enough water.
