All For The Game - Neil Josten - Pros & Cons - 221 words

His mother wouldn't like it. That one goes in the “con” column. Dead or not, he still wants to respect her wishes.

He'd be at a Class A school. They get all the publicity. Another “con”.

Nobody knows who he really is. That gets a qualified “pro” because he's still worried that Kevin will figure it out.

He gets to play Exy for a while. He loves the sport so much. He never thought he'd be able to have that again. More tallies for the “pro” column.

He gets to play and practice with Kevin Day, only one year older than Neil and one of the best Exy players in the world. Who wouldn't want that?

That midget goaltender just might kill him. What was his problem anyway? He isn't sure which column to slot this under. He doesn't need to be running away from danger just to run smack into it again. And yet... Andrew Minyard fascinates him.

He touches the bruise where the racket connected with him. It makes him feel alive, something that he hasn't felt in a long time. Andrew cut through the pain and the fog and found Neil waiting on the other side. That one stroke is enough to keep him from running.

He picks up a pen and puts his name on the contract.
