I’m trying to go back through them but this is for today —

“That wasn’t what I was expecting.”

Noelani blinked at Gordon’s words and he knew he’d misspoken. But when he thought of wedding dresses, he thought of long skirts, flowing trains, beads, tiaras, fuss.

Not the simple dress that Noelani wore, light material swirling around her legs, her arms bare, her hair caught back with wispy white flowers that fluttered in the breeze.

Before she could say anything, he added, “It’s better,” and she laughed.

“Good save.” She rested her hand on his chest and he covered it with his own.

“I mean it,” he said, kissing her to prove it.
