On the subject of counting

I LOVE that we are such a diverse group. I enjoy that everyone motivates differently and that we each do our best to try and get our own projects done and egg people into doing their projects! I like that we all find out way differently.

It is never more evident, this diversity of our comm, than when I am counting up numbers. Some people are just Boom!, some people show and link their work, some people make graphs and charts and spreadsheets. It is all good, and I really REALLY don't want to discourage any of it! How you do it is part of the original person you are! I love it!

That said, it makes it difficult to count. I don't want to start a "You must report this way" regime. H and I just want to know what we're counting. To that end, the counters this year contain the phrase "Kaige, count this". Continue to do all your magic, show your work, craft your pie charts, MAKE IT HAPPEN, I'm just looking for an arrow that says 'count this #'.

If you repeat the phrase when you post your next comment or add the next month, I would ask that you code in a strike through on the old numbers (that is a < and > on either side of the word strike with a / on the last one) just so I know the number is outdated.

What I count:
Every month I add up each member's totals for their written words and then the totals for their graphic words. When I have totals for the comm, I subtract the previous month's amount to know what our increases were. It's really very simple, but when I have to sift through all the comments and devise which numbers to use... So yeah, we're asking for a sign post this year.

Thank you, and may the words be with you! 2016 is our year!!!

Have I understand it right, if I do like this;
January report: 3000
February: 2500, total 5500
Kaige Count: 5500

March: 4683, total 10183
Kaige Count: 10183

Then a request; could you put up in the graphic Count entry what an Icon, banner, wallpaper is Worth? Right now I only put up that I made 24 Icons (which are 100x100 pixels).

So we should do it from

KAIGE COUNT THIS TOTAL POSTED TO DATE: 50

... to ...

KAIGE COUNT THIS TOTAL POSTED TO DATE: 50 100

??? Is this right this way?

I'm only asking because I'm not sure if I got this right. :o/

This makes perfect sense. I don't know how you kept up with the numbers - I applaud you for your patience, your diligence, and your overall perfection!!!

I can do that. Linking to every post I do each week on facebook for Migrianeur Misfits would be hard, facebook makes it difficult to link to just one post, it often just takes you to that page and if you look later in the week there can be up to 50 posts after mine.

I'm confused (and that surprises no one) but I think I've got it. :D

[livejournal.com profile] kaige68 Here is an idea that might work for you, and I only bring it up cause I use a LOT of google forms now. But have you thought about a form. Google Drive does them free and as long as your group has a link, they do not need to have a google account. What I like about this is when they enter they info, it is timestamped and you as the form creator (or I can make one in like 5 mins and give you the spreadsheet link too) you can highlight where you left off and count from there.

ALSO if you want, I can play around with a formula that can take the form information and just add up the numbers. So you can look and just read the already added numbers. This might take me longer, as I will have to test it, but I know a few people that can help me out.

Makes sense to me, seeing as I always confuse myself when I update my numbers- and you have to do it for a lot of peoples counts!! - , so a KAIGE COUNT declaration will be part of my counts without a doubt from now on.

:D I figure I'll wait until I see what the others do and follow suit. :D

That can easily be done!!
